System Slowdown after Disk Optimize

Hello, I recently bought an Acer Aspire 6930 laptop, and have had nothing but good experiences with it. Specs are as follows:

 

-4 GB Ram

-320 GB HD

-GeForce 9600m GS 512 MB Ram

-C2D T7250

-Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit

 

I use it mostly for gaming and surfing the web. Prior to running smart defrag, everything ran smoothly and without problem. Two nights ago I ran Smart Defrag (v1.10) with the Optimize option selected. I started it, checked the box to enable it to shut down when finished, and went to sleep. Woke up the next morning, computer was off as it should be. Later that day when I had time to get on and check things out, I noticed a marked slowdown in pretty much every program. Games had become stuttery or choppy, even when all the settings were turned down.

 

I didn't do anything to my system from when I installed and ran SmartDefrag to when I ran the Optimize and noticed the problems, so I'm fairly confident that something happened during the Optimize process. Virus and Spyware scans all came up clean.
