Power went out while recording

I was recording some stuff in my pc when suddenly the power went out and the pc shutdown. After power came back I checked the recording. The file is there and it even has a  size which leads me to believe at least a part of the recording is there? VLC plays it as it's an empy file. Is there a way to recover the file or uncorrupting it?
