I can use Protected Folder to protected folder or files, but it seems to be only applicable to the software not to the folders or files. I saw in another thread that the files are only protected if they are accessed on a system that has the software installed. This is a concern of mine. I don't know if you can fix that, with modifying the file somehow, but it would be preferred.

While you can add files to the program, it does not let you do anything once they are on the protected list. What I want this program to do is to protect the file/folder and whenever I want to access the file OUTSIDE of the program, then I just need to put in my password and I can open the file (read protected). Then write to the file and save and it goes back to being protected when I close the file.

Second is that the file is essentially locked down and cannot even be copied. I have a piece of software (Allway Sync) that I use to make backups of my files and folders. (I use several external hard drives and back up data from one to the other), so that my files are backed up in case of drive failure. With Protected Folder, the backup fails. So now I'm back to either deciding if I want to protect the file or back it up. I should be able to do both. The program needs to mark the file and no matter where or how many copies there are on the system, it will be password protected.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Roninator2,

Sorry to miss you post. Yes, Protected Folder can only protect the the local files/folders on a PC that installed Protected Folder. I will report your suggestion to our prduct team for consideration.

For the issue " Second is that the file is essentially locked down and cannot even be copied.", you can set the settings of Protected Folder to hide or Deny read access as per your needs.

For the backup issue, is it possaible to send us the related screenshots so that we can make improvements.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
