VPN issues

Hi all.

I tried this on my desktop computer. Found tons of warnings/errors and fixed them. Desktop was much faster/responsive, etc.

Next installed it on my home laptop computer. Same results and everything was much faster. However, I occasionally access my work network via VPN through my home laptop. Activated VPN and logged into my work network. All access to my network at work through my VPN actually got quite a bit slower (~50% slower?).

Tried to use the restore function, but that didn't seem to help. Any known issues with VPN software or any other suggestions?

Haven't heard any replies yet, but I have done some surfing on the issue. Does this program modify the MTU settings at all? It seems like quite a few general troubleshooting sites say that a slow VPN can sometimes be caused by a 'system optimizer' because it changes this setting.

My VPN is still not working at all...

MyrEnforker,

AWC changes some parameters after repair according to which Computer Type and Network Connection you have chosen when you install.

Please indicate which of them you are using.

When you said you have tried restore function, is it System Restore or Backup restore?

I just tried the backup restore, not the system restore. Actually don't remember the program asking me what type of computer & network I had. Is there any way to check after install?

I am probably going to mess around the MTU a little bit to see if that fixes anything, unless somebody else has a better suggestion. Would this issue be better noticed if I put it in one of the other threads? Maybe: "Post your suggestion, bug report here "

Also just thought of one more thing. Maybe I can run AWC while the VPN is active? Maybe that would help?

MyrEnforker,

Most probably you have installed AWC Personal.

Click Status button, click Computer Type or Network Connection.

"Not available in the Personal edition" window will open.

Close it, and you will see that "General" option is chosen in either window and the others are greyed out.

In Pro edition you can choose the one which fits you best.

Each of them will have different optimization.

In Personal you can still click Auto-Care and use General settings, Interface Config, and Ignore List.

If you have more than one Backup in AWC try restoring the first one (earliest date).

If it doesn't work, instead of messing up with MTU, MSS, RWIN, etc., I would try to use System Restore.

If you have followed the advice of AWC just after installation, you should have a Restore Point before scan and repair, if not, try the closest date to installation of AWC.

I don't think running AWC when VPN is active will help.
