Suggestion: Ignore Large Fragments

The Windows defragmenter has a feature to ignore fragments larger than 64mb.

 

This makes sense because defragmenting large files which only have a few fragments is a waste of time. Ignoring large fragments gives near full performance and takes a lot less time to defrag.

You are right, but that feature is already available, you can choose between 100 MB and up to 10 GB, preset to 1 GB - just use the slide.

I have mine set to 200 MB. I checked my largest 100 files in Disk Explorer and found only my security backup larger than 200 MB. And there is no reason to defragment that file, I think.

There's a difference between large fragments and large files. Just because a file is large doesn't mean it doesn't need to be defragmented.

 

I have lots of large ISO files on my drive. I don't care to have the file in one piece, but I just want to eliminate the smaller fragments.

 

A 4gb ISO in 10 pieces, probably doesn't need to be defragmented.

A 4gb ISO in 1000 pieces, should be defragmented.
