Operating memory - Win32/Rootkit.Agent.ODG trojan - unable to clean

This is a major catastrophy!!! I was downloading mods for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (with U TORRENT) and got all kinds of alerts from my Eset and other programs. Also a program that claimed to be an anti-virus that i know i didn't intentionally download... was telling me that i was infected. Anyway... i have run all kinds of programs to try to get rid of it and to no avail.

Normally one would get rid of this by utilizing system restore perhaps but my restore utility (although claiming to be monitoring) shows no restore points except today! I tried Malware Bytes... it won't even pull up. So i tried to defrag... my DEFRAGGLER and the computers DEFRAG always encounter error and will shut down.

Now... this particular scan didn't pick up on this Trojan (i don't know why) but i desperately need some assistance. Eset finds it every time but always is UNABLE TO CLEAN!!! I also have this known issue with IE...8 i think... and it just gives me a box that says that it has encountered a problem and needs to close... this is no issue for me because i use Firefox... however... about every 5 to 10 minutes... i get that stupid box that pops up for no apparent reason. I think that whatever has got my computer is trying to access something using internet explorer as this was not occurring prior to my botched attempt to enhance a darn GAME! This computer is my Work station and i need it working and clean to make my living. If anyone knows what this is and how to get rid of it... PLEASE tell me!

Now... I am not trying to hijack this thread. My intention is to make everyone aware that currently this utility and most (if not all) others cannot fix this and this one didn't detect it. So... i figure someone has the knowledge to help me and perhaps, if i am successfully assisted, the knowledge leading to my success could be integrated into Security 360 to make it better than it already is... perhaps!

Oh... on a positive note... i ran like 10 or more different utilities prior to trying this one and it still found some crazy amount of errors...lol. and it fixed them all!!! way to go! I, despite my afore mentioned disposition, am very pleased and believe this is much better and more user friendly than the average utility. I plan to keep this on my computer as it runs right along side of Eset with no problems and it appears to be a light program...so far!

Iobit Security is currently showing that I have my AVG Firewall off, but when I check on AVG interface, it says that it's on.

Also there is a grammar error in the Options Menu > Scan Settings.

It says "Quarantine threats when remove them"

when it should say "Quarantine threats when removing them".

But either than that, everything is good.

Hi jcz

What does the firewall say in the control panel?

Perhaps refresh the setting?

I would suggest "Quarantine removed threats" :-)

Cheers

For some odd reason the security holes that do download by the security hole fixer doesn't seem to be properly installed. The files are downloaded and installed but come ups failed. Yes I have restarted my computer after the process was done but still the same results.

Also a bug report was formed too. But I do not wish to post it here. If there is a tech that works on the 360 then I'll send it to him. But other then that it is very strange.

Any ideas?

Hi dan

In the language file there are two lines

ThreatsRemoved=%d threats removed

ThreatRemoved=%d threat removed

You could try to change the first one with the second and vice versa

Let's hear if that changes anything :-)

Small problem though, but perhaps there is a small error in the address code for these lines?? Perhaps IObit will notice and act upon it. :-)

You could also try to write threat(s) in both of them.

ThreatsRemoved=%d threat(s) removed

ThreatRemoved=%d threat(s) removed

Cheers

solbjerg

When removing only one threat after a scan, IS360 does not read the string ThreatRemoved=; it reads ThreatsRemoved=.

A suggestion.

See attached picture.

If you don't select an item (from left, you don't check the box) then you can't manage it.

But maybe, if item is "blue" (as in pick) you should be able to manage it?

It's more like feature request. Would be awsome!

Hi solbjerg,

It would have been impossible for me to find out, because in my case, the word is the same in both singular and plural state and the plural state is known by the number.

Ex:

1 threat => 1 tehdit

5 threats=> 5 tehdit

:razz:

Thanks and cheers.

Beta 3.1 a definite improvement over 3.0! Autoscan "berserk mode" seems to be solved. I'm still having a problem, though. I have autoscan scheduled to run every morning at 5am, but I have no way of knowing if it actually ran or not. Full scans of system don't generate logs, even when done manually.

Checking "Scan History" on main page shows older logs that have turned up malware, but no logs showing a clean scan result. It would be nice to have it log ALL activity instead of just when it finds threats.

Overall the program is coming along nicely, and even with its beta bugs is still light years ahead of anything else out there!

i was looking in the lower right corner and the 360 symbol was glowing like it was performing an auto scan and then smartdefrag started to glow and 360 stopped.but no logg showed up from 360.is this a problem that they run at the same time or before the other is finished.when i hold the marker over the symbol for sd it tells me when the last autoscan was.cant 360 do the same?+i also want better logs and statistics for the autoscan.8)jorgen

I just switched the output lines...

... and apparently I was still wrong:

As you can see in this picture

http://forums.iobit.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1347&d=1250113742

ThreatDetected=%d threat detected should call for

ThreatRemoved=d% threat removed as output data,

instead it calls for the plural: ThreatsRemoved=%d threats removed.

I haven't had time to troubleshoot this at all, but it seems when the screen saver engages after idle time and then the normal desktop is opened, that I can't get any programs to load from the taskbar. I have to exit out of IObit 360 3.1 before I can load FF for instance. When it is in this state, I can't even right click on the taskbar to bring up task manager until IObit is shutdown. Anyone else had this happen? I'm running Vista.

U kno what I mean???

i was looking in the lower right corner and the 360 symbol was glowing like it was performing an auto scan and then smartdefrag started to glow and 360 stopped.but no logg showed up from 360.is this a problem that they run at the same time or before the other is finished.when i hold the marker over the symbol for sd it tells me when the last autoscan was.cant 360 do the same?+i also want better logs and statistics for the autoscan.8)jorgen
