Invalid Floating Point Operation on Install

Recommended Posts

Hi

I was upgrading as ASC Pro downloaded an newer version. However after it un-installed the previous version and started installing the next version It gave the error message " Invalid Floating Point operation"!.

I turned off anti-virus before doing teh uninstall and install. Ran CCleaner but still no new install

Im using WinXP SP3 and Win 7 RC7100 works fine on Win7 but not on WinXP SP3

Hopefully someone can help as its an excellent program and the only one that really gives a feel to have increased PC performance.

Hi summermoon

Is it uninstalled? If not close down all automatic functions from the program running in the background - uninstall it - delete the ASC folder and install again - what we call a clean install.

Remember that you then will have to register again (so copy your register information - username - codeword)

You will also need to configure the program again - place possible "problems" that you want not to be optimized in the ignore list. Don't use the Care button the first time you run it.

If it is uninstalled, then close the automatic function and the program and delete the folder - and then install.

Same procedure as described above after that

HI yes it uninstalled. I removed all left over folders and registry entries I could find. Then started from a clean install.

Same FLoating point message appeared again. I went back to an older version and the install went fine.

Hi summermoon

You could try uninstalling it through Add/Remove programs and delete the folder clean the registry with ccleaner for example and then try the newest version.

Are you using McAfee? Is it updated, are the definitions updated?

If so it should not be necessary to close it down during installation.

Are you sure you didn't by mistake delete too much in the registry - did you make the recommended backup there?

Yes used ccleaner most recent version. Also used JV16 2009 registry tools to remove all traces of ASC.

I use Eset Anti-virus which is updated but was turned off when un-installing and re-installing.

As I said the previous version of ASC installs fine and works fine its just the most recent update.

Ive even done a system restore back 2 weeks and the same happens.
