The first thing I do is google the file that's suspect and read several links that you find to establish if it relates to software on your computer.

 

I say read several links as on rare occasions a virus can hide in a false file name similar to a bona fide file. and you may find info on this in your search.

 

run further scans by other security software to see if they too get the same results if they do alarm bells should be ringing. If no one else finds it treat with caution and do not delete.

 

always put in quarantine rather than delete. You can return it later if an error.

 

If its a false positive others will report it too, post it on the forum and keep an eye open for others with the same problem.
