Dr.Web® Scanner----

If using Windows Vista, it is recommended for the Scanner to be run by a user with administrator rights because any changes in the settings made by unprivileged users are not saved when you exit the system.

The Scanner (GUI-version and console version for Windows) and SpIDer Guard components can be run on computers operated by Microsoft® Windows® 95/98/Me or Windows® NT(SP6a)/2000(SP2)/XP/2003/Vista.SpIDer Mail, SpIDer Agent, SpIDer Gate, as well as Parental control can be run on computers operated by Microsoft® Windows® 2000(SP2)/XP/2003/Vista.

Minimum system requirements are similar to those for the corresponding OS’s. However, SpIDer Guard requires at least 32 MB of RAM for proper operation. Also, the PC must fully support i80386 processor command system.

SpIDer Guard can run under 32-bit systems only.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dr.Web® for Windows includes the following components (available components may vary depending on the type of license):

Dr.Web® Scanner for Windows is an anti-virus scanner with a graphical interface. The program is launched at a user’s request, or as scheduled, and performs computer anti-virus scanning. There is also a program's version with a command line interface (Dr.Web Console Scanner for Windows).

SpIDer Guard® for Windows is an on-access anti-virus scanner (also called a monitor). It constantly resides in memory and scans files “on the fly”, instantly detecting any virus-like activity.

SpIDer Mail® for Windows workstations is an anti-virus mail scanner. The program intercepts requests of any mail clients to mail servers via POP3/SMTP/IMAP4/NNTP (IMAP4 stands for IMAPv4rev1) protocols, detects and neutralizes viruses spreading through e-mail before they are received by the mail client from the server, or before the message is sent to the mail server. Providing the Dr.Web application is licensed to (that is, the key file allows to) work in the "Anti-virus + anti-spam" mode, SpIDer Mail uses the Vade Retro spam filter to scan mail for spam messages. This component is not included in Dr.Web for Windows Server.

SpIDer Gatetm is an anti-virus HTTP-monitor. By default SpIDer Gate automatically checks incoming and outgoing HTTP-traffic and blocks all malware objects.

The Parental Control component is used to restrict access to both local and web resources.

SpIDer Agent is a utility which lets you set up and manage components of Dr.Web.

Dr.Web automatic updating utility for Windows allows registered users to receive virus database updates and Dr.Web program modules, and automatically installs them; for unregistered users, it allows to register or receive a demo key file.

Dr.Web for workstations also includes the Scheduler for Windows 95/98/Me and the Scanner for DOS.

Fine by Me

I use that all the time, have for nearly two years. It's never found anything, but then I use a large dose of common sense along with my regular security.I actually have a registration code for one year free of the Dr. Web AV,but am reluctant to part with Avira.A 2nd,3rd,or even 4th break out scanner never hurts-besides,this one doesn't have to be installed.I am confused, however, because you title the thread "Dr. Web Scanner",but the thread goes on to describe the AV with real time protection. There is a scanner and an AV both from Dr. Web.So,which one are we talking about here?

thanks for that --i do hope this is ok for me to do --i am useing my self as a genii- pig to see if obit- intercepts this -and rouge installs !!!!

so far its very still---

i shall report here , every thing i install (try) and see if obit reacquires--Malwarebytes did ! 4 times -and wanted to stop it --

now i want you to define the word rouge

as this can be interposed- many ways --

we talking the program - as fake ? as in hacked or hijacked...

or the way the servers try to get one to pay up?---

took me 4 min to find a way , and-add it in the program-- by pass -reg the program

no validation needed ----{to easy!} and it accepted me as payed up client--

thanks--

exfat ??????what is it

hard drive format

defalt NFS

option

exFAT --Whats the difference -this seems at a Quick format very fast

i keep losing the drive after a few swaps on the older system (copy to)or from-

my new pc then wants to format the drive --

at the start when plunging in the cable it wants to scan after that so call fixed

the older systems want to format the drive again --

then all the data is corrupted--if i dismiss it--unreadable--

there seems to be a difference in size according to the xp system and win7 -- system--size of drive--by 5 gig (reading) at ether format --

if i format it to ex fat xp cant see it--??

if its nfs there is a different size shown --by the systems---reading-

as its a giga bye 700 drive--i have this problem with--all the old drives no problems at all---my terry bite the same --1.2--

i hope its understandably for you -- what i am asking

is there a program that can fix it ? or install on xp systems

there are used as storage drives USB cable--

How good is it? Great

Good Morning All,

Used Online Armor for about six months (free version) and was impressed enough to open my wallet and purchase a 2 year license. Throws a few popups when installing programs, but they provide good info with regard to who, what and where, so you have a better idea of what is about to transpire. Worth a look if you are in need of a good firewall or giving thought to trying a new product. Folks in their forum would make good candidates for Iobit forum as they to, seem to be willing to go the extra mile.

A.T.
