yes sunny its works on the 3 different win 7 i use!

you need the latest downloads just to be sure!!

the problems i did have are now dissipated--only be careful what you allow

to be dilated or changed --just to remind you when you installed win 7

and have it at bare bones -so to speak -make a backup boot disk,and a image-

win7 has this inbuilt (ultimate)

some thing to try ---totally free--and run on windows 7 have used it for 4 days -and very ,good fire wall, alternative- ? or even a add in ?

there is no problems running along Winn fire wall ------

what i did is delete all windows settings-(test )-if you fear this no problems -just reset

and its all back as it was when installed--by the way

win7 fire on its own i test at Gibson-- and passed 100%

so that's a big improvement by Ms----

you may if not familiar with settings-learn it --has a very detailed help file-

 

and after its 7 to 28 day learning -build in -is very handy --

worth a download ---this was also passed easy ---by gibbons-just on the defaults setting ---

 

look its nothing fancy but very orderly-no fancy graphics just plane--

but who cares it work -realy well has some nice added features as well

its one of those not easy to tweak (setup) you may have to add

Application mainly, like say a browser --then allow tcp/or udp/ plus use many of the advanced settings -again, if say you think you may of made a mistake. -reset

start again --i like it--i am running LookNstop as well and there is no complaining-giving it Allow all ---by adding it to the fire wall-

for this reasons i like it -IT Doing what a fire wall Should look after the PC.Not A complainer you my run a other fire wall-- -what i call Stand alone--

and has extra added like a port monitor (Tracking) -tell you what is used by what and port--

Installation:

 

i advice this strongly --every one reading the post --this is made for you --

read carefully -think on it!! how i know ? i have used wi7 from its first BETA--testing it!!

 

 

 

windows 7 ------------pull out you modem-remove the cable---

Take note!!!

don't think i am just typing this in for something to do!

or be a smart Ass---or think you know better--if you do not care losing

what you had -then stop reading----

 

if you have one ?--

on the spare drive -D:/ split this in half --d: e:===say 150-gig 250 gig--

on a 400 hundred gig drive---why ? perhaps you want a duel boot system--??

i split a 200 gig drive at 60x60x 80--------------spare for back up--

 

1 if you have a xp -operating system--and a spare drive--?

2 if you have vista---

back up your c>. drive fully-Make a Image --OF THE drive--

2 make a xp boot cd---or a vista CD boot disk--

read -the thread -and follow garybear advice--in back up back up thread--

if you do not know how--

 

why ?? you will not lose your OS you know!! and loved--

and if dispirited-- in windows 7 --than you can boot and replace your lost loved OS

as if nothing had happen---now make a folder named xp back-or vista back

copy in the back up files-i say copy---do not move them--

now we are ready---

 

take your time check all is in place-

 

are you sure ?

as you will lose the OS you had

there is no chance to role back-

wi7 will kill your old OS--even if you try to run -or tell it no changing the drive-

it will tell you that you will find it in a folder- widows old-abd that all

its good for its locked up and disabled--

now -the ones that think i shall install it to my second drive-

yes you can-and have a duel boot system--if done correctly it works 100%

 

 

 

1.Install program

2. follow the setting as it installs -

tip do not pass word the OS at install- why ? you have admin rights instantly-

this can be done later--trust this---when done--plus enter the key later--

skip the verify at install&update ,--plenty time- do not install and update from the net--

you think about this -as to why i advice this---<<<<<<<<<<<<

all done-

 

3. Reboot Windows.no modem -------

--fore a while there is no hurry

 

4 install A software fire wall- win 7 ready only--stiff if you do not like

whats out there at the moment-you should be hunting around --for a freebee

or pay up one--to get things ready --and have them on a cd---

 

5 install iobit-and avc-care---run them ---do your thing--

 

 

that is all ,add nothing els. like av or malaware programs ---

please --do not be silly ! you will kick your self---!!!!!

there is plenty of time for this crap! and try them out---

we are talking a new OS -----

 

6 get the blank cd ready -DVD read only----

 

7 ---plug in the modem--reboot-enter the registered set, numbers-go on line

get it verified-----

 

when done and its checks out-(your copy is legal) this should only take less than 30 seconds!!!

then get of the net fast!!!

-

turn of the OS of --pull the modem cable out out----))))

 

at this point -we want to have a pure installed back up no updated added ---

 

8 rebooted

---hit start -control panal-find back up and restore

from there create a back up --follow the instructions--

the os will ask you when done -TO make a boot up disk--yes

mark it WIN7 repair disk when this is done---have a cover -

-insert the made boot CD

sit this on the cp --

 

9-- now reboot--that's it !!!

you have backed up the xp -or vista-and win 7

 

--so now go -and plug in the modem ,and do your thing--

when my W7 arrives next month I will wipe C Drive clean and install W7. will not hang on to vista, and xp was history anyway.

 

had too much agro in the past dual booting a xp/vista machine.

 

I have asked local library to get a copy on "widows7 inside out" by ed bott to read in the meantime.

sunny -i have done this with my main pc--but back it up !with the min of any added programs to start of with--i do have 3 that have 2 version of xp and wi7 -all in one--each on a different drive--

i tell you this you will really, fall in love with this os and any one els thinking to install this--

i beta tested it from the first release-to the fully working one we were lucky to get -free-

as we are testers---get a lot of programs at no cost--any one can join in there program --as a beta tester--once accepted there are a lot of nice kick backs--

well how good is this ? out of 10 --give it .4

now under stand this its not for me --but may be for you!!!!

and should be a total free bee -its not worth a cent--lay out-

 

 

first thing -the download --eater about 15 min -it started its install

 

like most its screaming no1 priority the give us the $ and your DNA---

ok baring this as i turned of the modem at its install-its proceeded

and reboot was asked--OK first thing yep the scan---looking for the bad thing one my have---

 

i have no virus of my PC! not that i am aware of -and even if i did -not this many !!

 

 

it started to find 45 of them and auto clean--disinfect what it could-the rest DA valt!

 

my help files and more ended in the vault--i wondered why

doc files infected ? with a virus ? OK i let it go on --now concertratyed on what the fire wall

was about--set it to the high settings-blocking all and any UDP out lets

 

LET ME SAY in SHORT FAILED -Then failed to pick up i was Was using LOOKNSTOP FIRE WALL but classed it as a virus

ripped out 3 files that i promptly Restored from its vault--this tiny fire wall Was flat out working Blocking and state fully

inspecting packets -every port -i have never seen it work this hard--

so closed down reinstall lookNStop -booted-and the same flat chat--

the 0ther thing Bit defender did not com plane about the programs exe --(lookNstop)

bit defender was and also ripping at my programs

a now this is good! shezzz--

 

 

-my browser failed -BIRD COMMIT--ok ? reinstalled it

-worked-yet bit never made a boo i was using it -nor asked if this was allowed yet lookNstop did!..

so let it go on ---did not matter as i was in for a complete restore my drive---i could go on and on

 

but this fire wall had to go as it was giving more false positives then protecting my pc--the other thing

failed to pick up bee think ip blocker==and spy detector should of instantly--and my browser-and 360- its should of stopped it running or ask!!!

it leaked like a rusty old tin one found in a to carry water to fil the boiling radiator --

 

still wanted to give it a change -tried to tweak it -get it to do its thing -tuning of it virus ? hoping---

bit-plus a few other bits like upgrade - child , its bitched -you need to fix this and that--

so now i made it or tried-

-forcing, step by step blocking every app-setting and added manly what it should of picked up

one thing try to block udp -from its link to its site or even block it !!!

 

-well after what seemed about

3 hours of carefully applying what i wanted -eh--- this thing was still leaking--baring the fact it had a

vault fulling up of part apps in it--now win 7 was getting agitated-and things stopped or pop ups appeared telling me .you paying attention !!!

till it had had it

and ask for the fix me up will you itsmejjj -this bitdefinder is killing me--slow

plus your programs are failing to run! i said stop whingeing and just work the best you can--

 

ok win7 answered -its your choosing but i warned you --mean while lookNstop went crazy -saying how about

giving me a rest!

beethink was also fl;at chat -stopping the UDP PORTS- my poor pc was working flat chat

now i have a re surf drive for the system 200 mb it was filled to max..now

then the horror came to being

win 7 defied my instance to run this new app-and bucked up stopping the pc.telling me firmly

that it -!!!

 

With a black screen!

there it said to me-Do not muck about -get it of or i refuse to run!! well ? that's not nice --take it easy -go with the flow--

i answered--bit 7 just sat there --not moving --

ok if you insist -and really want me to rid it -but win stuck it nose in the air did not answered me

ah dear -cold boot-

 

IN WITH THE CD BOOT DISK -i asking - replace my c> dive pretty please-Win 7 -----oh yes it answered thank you!!

then ..

 

put it all right--

saying, thank goodness

and did - thank you itsmejjj - thank you very much! that's better -i know your humans try all sort of things

but gee -that's was ruff!

 

now all it OK and running as it should be---

 

you out there now -want to use it well go ahead-you try it may be just us -and not the bit defender fire walls---this is far to over cooked ripping help file from a pc --Mmm that already worried me-

 

the other thing get the ante virus of fire walls!! and concentrate on ports!!

and any app ,any exe that wants to start -if failed ,the basic apps!

picking up there starting --

and the fact it called a small fire wall as a viral!!! ????????

now the other thing stop calling DOS -6-7 a viral --just because its not used much these days -and ripp out the apps-

i still use it!! with win 3.1-and 95!! multiple- boot systems--what the hell are virus programs doing? leave the systems alone -just look after the OS its using---not go into other drives -ripping away destroying them

or key in gens or patches-or redesigned programs --there seems to be this thing now days -rip it out ! why ? i used old software -15 years and older

i need to make keys to run them - or a patch !and when i make one up thy want to kill them!!

is LOOKNSTOP 2.6 or its update --

this give very good protection running with the win fire wall and not one hiccup

it can be tweaked to full potential ----------picks up any exe that wants to launch itself .any app that want to start -

this baby will ask you! misses nothing!! any os protocol -it will ask you --

and for windows 7 its my pick -but i keep on trying to find ones that do the right thing--and look after a system not destroy it!!!!!

jjj- Are you saying that you can boot Win 7 in just over 5 seconds? I think that we would all love to see a video of that because it is definately a world record and many times faster than anyone else has been able to do. The fastest time I've seen Win 7 booted by experts is 45 seconds. I'm confident that If you can start Win 7 in world record time that you can figure out a way to post a video of your accomplishment so we can brag to our friends that we actually saw it done by jjj on the IObit Forum.
