are your children safe??

i would love the adult here and members to give there opinions please--

ok let me ask you --do you know any program that filters out any

gif=image-or background of a offending site -that if penetrated by a filter-

give a blank sheet!

-if per chance it did get past the filter-as in a link-

click or by accident---what i am trying to say

if your child has a assignment to fore fill --lets just use the word Pussy cat --PONY -camel-doggy

and so on--or just wonders to this day dreaming-----

now most very young girls MORE SO--seem to at one time or other fall in love with the idea

of a kitten ,PUSSY CAT,-perhaps dream of a pony-or horse, doggy--puppy

- -so of to Google- yahoo--or a shearch ingen--go ahead -you type it in and browse the

list that come up---? did this shock you ? perhaps you were aware of this yet were sup prize

to link so easy to the Grey part of the net--i am trying not to type any offensives wording---

gee itsmejjj

-Mmmm see what you are saying----ok you may have a program blocking the bad sites--

on the child's pc or even yours-there are program that help here-how many have one on there pc ??

how many filter the child's chat rooms-<<<<<< the Most dangerous thing there is ,unchecked-

look its not spying-on your young! its protecting them--as we all feel different to the degree-

we may set---but here is the BUT thy still get past this - not all but some do=-so ok by chance

this could happen

predators do not care-thy seek the young any way thy can-with trick links-scripting-using java-or

bad sites trying to push there unwanted rubbish--

-i do be leave you can also-install nanny like programs--but i tested a few -and thy still failed-

because of the spoofing offenders or in bedded gifs- our the under over pop ups-

know as tree way links -our scripts--that hijack the browser--

-not a hope with proxco --you set filters to block the ob herring pictures-that become words--

and even clicked on fail to link-98% blank the photo--or background-

or the links that point to the offensive link--or adds by the offensive links -as in in bedded-or gif,

or redirects clicking on a gif or add that try-spoofing-a link -to bypass as normal---oh yes--

now i am talking the very young say 15 and under-you in time perhaps re lacks the protection when thy get older--

why not--try ,proximitron--or a similar type filter--

do you often check you child's pc ?? to make sure ? as i stated not to spy on -but keep them from harms way

even if you do not want this program -its still something to be concerned -of????

we forget sometimes--that the pc is the most manageress thing there is-if open to the system --

now i would really want to hear opinions here ---

thank you again for reading the post!

-its just the way the net

works--

Hi itsmejjj,

I have not tried it, but there is a section in Internet Explorer Options with the caption Content as a tab, where you can enable Content Advisor.

Anybody who has an interest, should try this option . :|

If you are using Windows Live, again there is an option to download, Family Safety, which helps keep your kids safer online, and you decide how your kids experience the Internet. You can block or allow certain websites and contacts, and monitor where your kids are going online.

Again, I have not tried that too.

Cheers.

any how bla -bla -the authorizes took over the contact in pretense, being the young girl- after a few more chats,a phone number was supplied by the predator for an good time---

to ring when at a McDonald-- where thy would meet-and get it on--so called!

-any how the predator was then arrested after the call went ahead ,triggering the arrest--expecting the young girl--well thy locked him up 6 years to 9years no parole--that what made me think how can we as parent stop this -before it even got any where near this?

thats what made me post this thinking how many of us have the pc of kids well protected

Hi jjj. Thank you for your thread. It is definitely some thing we should all think about. Small children do not have access to my PC, so it is not a worry for me, but it should be for those that have small children. I always enjoy your posts and read every one of them. You should not feel that because few responded that it was not important to post this thread because it was important and I thank you. People are very strange animals and respond to late some times. Just like the thread that you started; telling how important it is to back up your OS. Many will read but few will take the time to follow your good advice and then they will cry because they can't recover from a disaster that could have been avoided if they had listened and responded. Live well my friend.{garybear}

i read one site that used to update the site and one could download the blocking sites .

thy gave up.why the cost of running it was to much.and thy could not keep up with the ones opening and closing...

my first concern is Google..one would want to block this en gen..

next the ask one as well ,then yahoo,

ok next use this one .http://www.ixquick.com/ and make it default.(lock it)

its about 98% proof..from porno sites..the problem is its big bigness, and even the add man are looking at it as revenue.yes you sertanly can ,block a near 100%,using a few apps..

to add to this its My opinion Google is pure porn.scripted site,or redirected,.why do thy use it .big bucks.!

and that is what thy are about.ok one can argue freedom of info.is what thy are .sure, but is there or have thy got a child proof en gen for the very young.?

i do not know..and if not why? cant there be,one for them...No i think block them .rid them as your search en gen and your 3 parts there..for us its ok .we understand what to avoid . the innocent do not realize what thy click on..

and even then thy would not find a word like pussy(cat) or dogie(puppy),wrong.yet type this in google.haaaa see what you end up with..

in between the correct links,i am not against it.only when it comes to a youngster is when i am concerned.thy have plenty time and need not be trusted with this,at a very young age, when every thing is wonderful and a fairy tale...

good supervision

check the browser history will help, load a keylogger.

Hi there sunny staines ;

I totally agree with your first suggestion but I strongly disagree on the keylogger.

Unless you warn all users on the computer that they are being monitored via keylogger, but even then... Keyloggers are spying programs. Not only that, they can send all activity logs, screen shots etc... via email or fttp/http to the person who installed the program ; these reports travel via the keylogger company's servers, so all the private information from the machine and the users are made available to total strangers. That includes your banking info, passwords, all messaging (emails, WLM, etc...).

Too many kids and teens have computers or laptops in their own rooms, where parents can't supervise them all of the time. Many parents just don't know enough about computers to know what their kids are doing anyway. The best thing to do is to limit them to computers located in high traffic areas of the home, where they can't be operated with any form of privacy.

Using some kind of parental control is fine, but keyloggers ? No way.

Hi sunny staines,

Not sure which programs you are talking about, but the ones I've seen, offered on the internet, are all basically the same crap : Perfect Keylogger, Spector Pro and eBlast Keyloggers (same thing), etc... There are keyloggers that are installed with infections as well, but I'm not talking about those. The ones I mentionned above are "legitimate programs", but they pose a security threat to the machine where it is installed, because the programs can and do communicate with company servers and they can bypass firewalls, so no way of knowing what they do without your knowledge.

And spying is spying. We need to be able to control what kids do without having to spy on them. Pro-active, not reactionary. But that's just my opinion ;-)

Hi folks,

I like the MVPS Hosts file as well ; good to block infection pushing sites as well.

@sunny staines : just to clarify my stance on commercial keyloggers a bit. When you go to these web sites, you probably won't find any mention about the program's ability to connect to their company's servers. They don't want to publicize this, because it would scare some potential customers away. It's a total breech of privacy, when you think about it, letting strangers access full activity logs from your own machine. And I mean everything. This alone is enough to never consider these programs. They proudly market their ability to bypass firewalls, so how are customers supposed to know how and when they connect ? What is being communicated from your computer and where is it going ?

I'm not just speculating on the subject ; I've seen files that contain embedded URLs to company servers.

Hope that clears it up as far as my position on the subject ;)
