Start Menu Customize FP

Recommended Posts

Long ago I customized my StartMenu and removed (un-ticked) Help and Support

The latest Security360 database update shows this as a Threat

If I delete this Threat then Help and Support appears in my StartMenu again and a Security360 scan shows no Threat.

If I again customize my StartMenu and remove Help and Support then a Security360 scan reports the Threat again.

Hi wozofoz,

I have noticed that IS 360 generally sees the forced, or tweaked values in start menu as threats, because some of the malwares exactly do the same thing and a novice user really do not know what to do then.

My preference is, to put those kind of false warnings to Ignore List.

For example, I do not agree with itobe in his THIS post that all those values are always changed by malware, easily, they could have been changed by the user, security or firewall software, or a tweak utility.

It depends to which software you have given the authority to notify. It is that simple.

Cheers.

Better to be safe than sorry

Hi enoskype, thanks for the reply :-)

It seems IObit is aware of these FPs and prefers to take the 'better to be safe than sorry' approach, I can fully appreciate this.

I won't mention any future variations of this FP, my work here is done

In the end this is only a minor inconvenience and I am quite happy to Remove the 'threat' once, just to make sure it is a False Positive, then put it in the Ignore list.

All the best, woz of oz
