Hi wozofoz

I always update by fectching the file and saving it in my "downloads folder" then unblock it and then install it. (most often "over the top")

This I do to have the version ready in case the next one doesn't work, I usually have 2 or 3 versions of the program.

Cheers

I used RevoUninstaller to un-install ASC then downloaded and installed fresh

It automatically updated on install and that went ok

By the way, I had previously updated via the ASC application update not a separate download and install

I checked the update and it says I am up to date so I will see what happens on the next update

All the best, woz of oz

been doing the same for ages, have a large update folder comes in handy for an o/s upgrade or reinstall saves all those downloads.

use free DAP to manage and speed up downloads.

Yeah, I too usually save about 3 version copies in a special folder called Installed Software.

But......... I was busy tracking something down on the web and since my NetBook seemed a bit slow overall I decided to give it a quick tuneup with ASC.

The update notice popped up (I have check for update on program launch setting) and I got lazy and just clicked Ok.

The result was this (thankfully minor) inconvenience but still a good reminder that Backup is the first and last word of computer use.

I promise not to do it again

The update problem has been forwarded to IObit Specialist Team for investigation, they will solve it soon.

Just wait for my response.:-D

Hi Krissy

Thanks for that and I await your reply

All the best, woz of oz

Hi sunny

Yes a good habit to have I think!

Does the Data Access Page speed up the opening of the download site?

As for the actual download I don't believe that it would be able to overcome my location and the state of the copperwires here.

I have a 10 mbits/s connection but have never seen higher download speeds than 650 Kbyte/s. That is what my provider says I can achieve here in my location.

I think Sunny is referring to the free download manager called Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) from Speedbit.com

I might be wrong though

Hi wozofoz

Thank you for clearing that up - you are almost certainly right - sorry for my mistake.

I do wish that acronyms wasn't as commonly used as they are. :-)

hang ups on system optimization

Unless I missed it somewhere is there a fix to allow system opt to work on Windows 7? I've done all the suggested clean reinstall with revo and everything else works on diagnose system just not system opt. I looked around the forum some but didn't find anything unless I just missed it.

Hi woosley

One of the suggestions in the forum - while we wait for the update - was to un-tick the System Optimizing option.

For a temporary "solution" that is simple and easy :-)

Cheers
