Accusation Thread - Dispute

Hi and warm greetings to all,

If this was industrial espionage by MBAM as IObit claim ,how did MBAM know that the files would be blindly converted into signatures and added to the IObit database ?

What are the chances of that having occured ?

And surely if that was the case they would have slipped some 3rd party applications stating MBAM detects as blah.blah to the IObit malware submission service. This inturn would make IObit start breaking 3rd party applications and thus look very incompetent.

What IObit has offered as explaination to me does not hold water when you look at the potential of such possible espionages.

Please also bear in mind after IObit denial they removed the suspect signatures from their database and then within 12 hours MBAM had released yet more trap files that IObit still detected.

What next will these also be removed from the IObit database too ?

I think we do not give credit to MBAM(surely they must play chess). No doubt they have many more such trap signatures(unique to MBAM database) that should not be occuring elsewhere unless they have been copy and pasted from the unencrypted MBAM database on mass.

For now i wait for next IObit denial or counter accusation and then the innevitable next MBAM publication of yet more proofs.

My respect to the forum mods for keeping a lid on what is no doubt a cauldron of contreversy.

QFT.

Been on this forum almost 5 mos. not two days.

The Amins/moderators/5diamond guys have been very supportive. I have helped them as well. I do not hover here. I visit, as I do regularly, and have for 5 mos. You join and hover here... with nothing vested but intentions to insult somebody for some reason. Thats all.

How much you getting paid to be so hateful?

The Admins/moderators/diamond guys want this resolved as well. Of course I will support the individuals who have supported me.

Its unfortunate that you have no respect for people that have nothing to do with Iobit other than participate on their forum.

Here is my thoughts on all this.

If iobit and mbam are, indeed, going to go to trial and be judged for all this, why are WE, the users, trash talking each other?

This is all very childish. I think its time we all grow up ey?

Hi vman

Yes it's curious, especially as we in the forum does not have anything to do with it.

But one thing sticks in my mind, - what is the motive for this, - usually the advice in whodunit are - follow the money -, and I doubt very much that IObit is going to profit from this.

Tim Zue stated that the president of Mbam had approach them awhile ago to get them to stop the contest IObit started 8 week ago.

Why I wonder? Should one follow the money here too?

Cheers

Err....this is the official IOBit forum, isnt it? forum.iobit.com seems to be a part of iobit.com, no?

So the forum has everything to do with it, concerned customers and potential customers can comment on things which are making tech news headlines?

Say you have a video of someone being shot... when you still consider the offender innocent?

interesting point -why did i not think off that -no very good point-

so now ya just shoot ? and hope ya got it right! after all its on on video ?-who needs justice?

but who shot who? and is the video true? thy say a picture cant lie? or a tape cant lie,i don't know about law ,but is there something about give the benefit of -until its proven by trial? and stop mobs ,from judging and sentencing?

you got not a idea what you are saying,if the world start to think like you lot

we are all gone-lets say its proven as no one is sure as yet.not guilty ok .where you lot be running to?

are you still going to be a member? no mo you be hiding-then say no was not me ,i be leave in justice--if some one was to ask -

"Innocent till proven guilty" and sing out aloud -i would never do such a thing--

look i keep saying .stop this a see what happens first--

Mate I have a hard time understanding you, your grammar is appalling. Maybe throw in some full stops more often. Don't regurgitate legal mumbo jumbo, I'm a criminology student, a case like this would take one day? in court. As I repeat there is compelling evidence by Malware Bytes. Nil on IObit to disprove Malware bytes allegations.

Jesus this is intellectual property, not RAPE or MURDER!

So stop pushing the 'innocent til proven guilty' talk, I am well aware of this especially coming from a democratic country like Australia. Maybe you should try to push your 'innocent til proven guilty' talk against China cause I'm pretty sure MOB justice is ripe there ;).

Hi Nebular

Try writing jjj a post in Swahili or one of the Inuit languages - and see how you fare :-)

Regurgitate - brilliant word, thanks for reminding me!!

That sums up a lot of barrage against some of the finest people here that are trying to helps others with problems.

So I can see how it came to mind :-)

Perhaps one day in court, after all the evidence was in I suppose, as a future lawyer you would like to have time to prepare your case I'll wager.

Cheers

Hello everyone.

* Just to start out I am with MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware 100%

* I USED to use IObit's Smart Defrag; uninstalled after hearing this.

* Here to give my opinion on the situated problem.

* I already declared I was with MalwareBytes, but I have a good reason to be posting.

Being neutral for the second (because I AM fair..)

Argument from MalwareBytes'

* Keygen for THEIR software, found in your scan, under the exact name.

* A fake rogue/rouge was created, not put into public (so no 'accidents') not only did your scanner find it, but also in the exact name. Heuristics can also have nothing to do with it, because in order to have gotten the exact name (maybe the signature was the same, that is a possibility) you would of had to access Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware's database of signatures to GET THAT name. As said before, the fake rogue was NOT released into the public, so no matter what, (as you said that your database is from online submission) you could of not gotten into the database, because no regular user could do this, it takes a trained person to do such as this. And, only four people knew about the fake rouge.

* There are many more, but this post might become too long. (seriously, you saw me explain just ONE point.)

IObit's Counter-Defense

* Database sizes are different.

As Malwarebytes' has said, they compress their database, and so if you don't compress yours? Malwarebytes' has also said that they believe that you if not have only stolen from them, but from other security vendors. (Although I can't 100% believe in this myself, it's a possibility.)

* Your databases come from a online submission. This does not hold anything valuable either because not only did Malwarebytes' NOT release it to the public, but you also picked it up in the perfect name. Disabling the submission for the database is not needed because there is no way you can be scared of something that didn't cause a problem.

SOME OTHER THINGS:

Pornography links on the site. Where to start?

You're a security vender, not a pornographic site.

OMG, I got IObit only a few weeks ago, then today I was talking to a friend who told me about what has been going on.

I must say I am extremely disappointed to read all this and I will be uninstalling IObit imediatly.

I think you people deserve everything you get.

Goodbye and good ridance.

EDIT: ex_user is banned for bad language used in his deleted following post.

Is this discussion at an end ?

Firstly, I would like to state my admiration and respect for the IObit forum Mods and Admins, their calm during this storm has been an inspiration to me

Secondly, while reading many of the abusive posts I have had to 'bite my lip' in fear of what I might say and so I decided to keep out of this discussion

In case some folks haven't noticed:

Malwarebytes forum has closed the thread IOBit Steals Malwarebytes' Intellectual Property I am not sure when it was closed but I noticed it at least 12 hours ago.

I wonder if it was closed simply because all that needs to be said has been said ?

There is no reason given for closing the thread (that I could find) so only the Malwarebytes forum mods know the answer.

And so, maybe some of the new posters came to this forum because they could not post there.

All the best, woz of oz

Instead of answering thiscomments why have you removed it from your site?

Why do you people asks for the comments when you are not able to digest them.

This is unfair isn't it??

probably not :-)

Hi wozofoz

Wise choice! :-)

Sometimes hard to keep ones "cool"

But you are usually a reasonable voice too.

Interesting observation you have spotted!

All will come to light eventually I expect.

Civil polite language bodes the forum best in my opinion, - if some real humour can find its place there too it is also great.

I just hope that the forum survives this and can go about its business in the usual way.

Thanks and cherio

Cooee itsmejjj

[OT] @ itsmejjj

Cooee cobber

{ Cooee! (IPA /ku:'i:/) is a shout used in the Australian Outback mainly to attract attention, find missing people, or indicate one's own location. When done correctly - loudly and shrilly - a call of "cooee" can carry over a considerable distance.

The call began as an Indigenous Australian custom – a loanword from the Dharuk, the original inhabitants of the Sydney area, and has now become widely used in Australia. }

{ Cobber: buddy, chum, mate, pal - a close friend who accompanies his buddies in their activities

Possibly from dialectal cob, to take a liking to }

1. We call everyone mate especially randoms, don't take it to heart :) I wouldn't be you're friend either

2. Understanding to new Australians? What are you talking about? If you are implying I am racist then you are sadly mistaken. My parents are Laotian and Thai, and I live amongst many ethnic groups Chinese, Vietnamese, Canadians, Lebanese, you get the point.

3. I am still having trouble understanding you.

4. You need to take some English classes.

5. At which point have I stated that I was becoming a lawyer. You have assumed because I'm studying criminology that I am attempting to become a lawyer? You are wrong and you are telling me not to jump to conclusions?

Studying Criminology does not imply that i'm becoming a lawyer. Get your facts straight, the last thing I would want to be is a lawyer :-D

6. Sufficient evidence is available for users to make a choice, both sides have provided an argument and defense. Going to trial? How does this work, I assume malware bytes is located in the U.S and IObit in China... so what actually are we waiting for?

7. Coorie people? Are you talking about indigenous people? good for you I have indigenous friends also. Point being?

8. You have Australian relatives, oh good for you. I have Chinese relatives, American relatives. What is your point?

In this case the word mate equals rape!

A world community we are. Some still don't get it! Wonder where his underwear was made??

I'll shut up again... at least for a minute.

My underwear was made in Thailand ? Yes we are a world community. That does not negate the fact that China is a hot spot for counterfeit goods. Cloned this, Cloned that... Replicas. Fake LV's you get my point.
