well i must say its really played out well ..if as a surfer you my ,want to be hidden.as in ip this is it..why TOR..well as you saw if ya looked there are many on line,

and your ip of getting seen .to the net and lodged 1 i a 50,000 shot.of happening..and i wonder who it may be..now this is free ,but you pay by contributing say 5% of your monthly account you pay your isp man --

and that running flat chat..so you give bandwidth (share ) with the others ..

plus allow the ones who are block by bureaucratic ,what ever to get past them unseen..!! thy have rules .if you attempt scams probing, hacking.you soon be band fast..cut of..it is for the normal day to day use ..

draw back are .speed at times..

some times to half..is it worth it? yes..the more there are on .the faster it travels ..ok its not hard to install at all..we did a different thing ,as the you out there would not do .that is why we fiddled a bit around tweaking..setting up.

i don't know how much you as user may want anonymity ..but you get it with tor net..free..and bar the give a little its under your control as to how ,you use it and when..

ponder over this ,perhaps even try it..you will need FIRE FOX..to run it..

and i think.OPERA,? i do not know if it will run on it..

someone may be able ta tell me this..AND I JUST RELISHED I SPELLED IT WRONG..

TOR NET..not thor net sorry...maybe one of ya fellers can fix the heading?

thanks..

A while back out of curiosity I tried using my Opera browser on the TOR Onion Proxie and instead of a few seconds to reach a site it took a few minutes because my bandwidth was cut down to considerably less than 100 Kbps according to my Bandwidth Meter Pro.

I just did another Opera TOR download test of a 1.9 MB .png Photobucket photo of mine from the link that I set up to it from the IObit Lounge. According to my Bandwidth Meter Pro utility the download took 3 minutes and 20 seconds which averages out to 76 Kbps. I tried to use Opera Turbo which can multiply download speeds on low bandwidth connections up to 8X by using Opera's unique server side compression, but TOR made it impossible to use Opera Turbo otherwise the download could have been accomplished in as little as 25 seconds.

I then downloaded the same 1.9 MB photo from Photobucket using Opera 10.01 with an empty cache in 3 seconds which averages out to 5.07 Mbps on this small of a download. On larger 10 MB downloads Opera 10 will soar up into the 25 - 30 Mbps average download speeds.

Can TOR speeds be made to become any faster than they were measured here?

Can TOR speeds be made to become any faster than they were measured here?

Simple NO....

first thing check your sets .what you allow.i have all set at max allow...2nd .realize thy are on you isp number .thy know you the tor control..

thy test your setting .and take care of you as best that thy can

leave it to them please...

if one monkeys about you ma risk a banning? i do not know.....

to answer this .about speed.this will depend on the links made

lets say i allow speed of 512 k.next fella 245k .ok now 5 more at 56k

here is where the problem can arise.it will try ta find a speed matched near to your one,if its available.if not decide the rest..ta accommodate for loss... (match plus link)depending on what you set it at and others have it..

my average peek 65.30kb/s in out...when on.48.30 level in 12,00 out....i use my 512k line.in and out 128k..

i have had better look at my picks...

it can suffer speed loss.some times have 15 to 30 lines open at the one time--it will how ever settle down to 4 or 8 good links..open state..

to my link-..

its what i pay for on this line..i am still tied ta contract till June next year..

then will be on adsl 2+ 5 time the speed in and out..

ok but that will still depend on the others that share and what speed thy use or allow..over all .

i passed there test as excellent comodo shows me 100% ..traffic to tor..

agian down speed (65.30kb/s into my system

up speed 16.33 kbs from my system ...thy are very happy..only ask for my email .ya so call contact me of problems.....i do not allow..

but thy do not worry about it ..

so any one think it will go faster can try, but i advise do not monkey around with this.. you may get blocked.i do not know..or even coincided as hacker

i do not know..let them give you the best available.its adjust it self ..

speed is a worry but i believe the more the merrier.you can let it run and surf with out the tor net.but what is the point in that..ok speed is not my worry at all i care less .i want privacy anonymity above all els..

that is my passion..and happy to sacrifice speed in or out also i use 4 pc systems no on the tor net work ..in to one router .each stand alone ..

one line.the others on a 12 pinn router on a other line..net works as one...i do not use this ..its for the kids...that come here ta use the system..

speed set by tor top and botem are as it finds your isp speed..or what you allow .give (share) to the net .thy do this for you.auto

if one want to try well take the risk..it could get you band..i do not know or want to risk playing around with this..

jjj- Thank you for your detailed and information laden reply concerning the use of the TOR Onion Proxy. As I said I have done some experiments over the last few months with TOR software which yielded results that were numerically congruent in result with the screen capture that I posted earlier in this thread which as demonstrated show TOR download speeds were 1.5% of normal non-Proxy download speed on average and which you may have noticed was done while Opera TOR was running outside the virtual Sandbox due to extensive conflicts with Sandboxie. It is these very conflicts that prevent from using the Onion Router network which was originally sponsored by the US Naval Research Laboratory for anything more than the testing that I have done so far due to computer security concerns in that the TOR software refuses to behave itself while running Sandboxed on my computer by redundantly and continually feeding duplicates of its own program files back into the Sandbox Recovery creating a colossal mess. Thank you again for confirming the answers to so many of the questions that I had originally had about the various impacts of running TOR.

ya welcome..yes it must run out side the sand box environment..and risk wise i cant answer as well bar it uses privoxy filters..a clone of proxomitron .less powerful. that thy use ,i do have it running with my own after a bit of messing about set it ta use my proxcy .than use the net tor.its a bit tricky ta do but can be done..

now as for privacy i believe its 100% secure, but the big but .there is no guarantee.as its has port forwarding..ok open port.9030..default..you know this already .so wheresoever. any one can use this i do not know.other than tor..

risky .ta use i think ,is not.but speed can be so so at times.you also notice that its use mostly by Linux 95% of user are using this os on the tor system..so tells me very safe --i say should ..again i cant tell .so far nothing has shown me other wizi.as in alerts..comdo i think is the thing ta use her..yes max i agree !!

even if i don't like it!

that silly i am not ta risk it ,using tor...if there is one comodo should pop up a warning..

I've looked into the workings of your proxy program with its programmable filters and extensive lists and as I said I have also experimented with using TOR and I can say with all confidence that what for you is 'a bit tricky to do' is a highly complex skill that is quite inscrutable to anyone who does not have the benefit of the decade long experience that you have with these programs.
