Hi MissNiss,

It seems that your problem is only with your IE browser having too many toolbars.(89% is extremely high for IE usage)

If you take my word, uninstall all of them (including MS Live) using Revo Uninstaller, clean the registry by ASC, then you can install the ones you need. (Minimum as far as possible).

Give your HijackThis report then.

Cheers.

Hi Miss!

Thanks for the screenshots!! Enoskype is modest when he says 89% is high for IE! That's very high CPU usage for IE!

Please click on the blue link "revo uninstaller" that Enoskype gave you in the previous post and get it... the free one will do just fine!

When you have downloaded and installed, open it. All your currently installed program icons will appear. Pick the one (Whichever u choose 2 be rid of first), then click on it... goto the top and hit uninstall... choose the advanced option when offered.

After revo runs the built in uninstaller... Carefully hit next and choose only the entries/options pertaining to the software you are getting rid of. Revo will make them Bold for you most of the time.

After removing the toolbar(s)... run Advanced System Care to "patch things up."

Hi

Yes i did run the JavaRa tool.

Im not sure if it worked at all though.

Hi MissNiss (&Melvin),

I don't mean to jump in here, but I noticed you still have some leftovers from older versions of Java listed. Were you able to install it & run the tool to clean out old versions?

Hi MissNiss,

If JavaRa worked correctly, there should be a log file in:

C:\JavaRa.log

You can see the deleted items in it if you double click on it. (It should have been opened automatically after finishing cleaning though.)

When you run JavaRa, you see the windows in the attachements in sequence when you start clicking "Remove Older Versions" button .

Please check for deleting the following.

O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0015-0000-0012-ABCDEFFEDCBA}Java Plug-in 1.5.0_12 - http://java.sun.com/update/1.5.0/jin...ndows-i586.cab

O23 - Service: Secondary Logon (seclogon) - Unknown - %windir%\system32\svchost.exe

Please search (by Google) in the web the following if they are OK, or as known nasties!!!

If you find any being a malware, please delete also.

EDIT:

Cheers.

Hi Miss!

All of the additional 023 services are ok (that Enoskype referred to). They are part of your Windows (introduced in XPsp3,various versions of Vista, and are incorporated into 7 as well). They are services that allow Windows to work well with softwares on your system, as well as facilitate networking. If you fix or remove them you will be causing problems!!

I ran the program and it said it searched and removed old files, but then when it says it will now open log, Nothing opens. ??

Hi, please run a JavaRA Additional Tasks as well.

See ScreenShots 1 and 2 for what to tick.

ScreenShots 3 and 4 are what my JavaRA Remove Older Versions looks like.

All the best, woz of oz

Hi enoskype

Where are you going my friend, stay wit the thread, experience is what is needed.

Hi enoskype. Like I said I don't use IE8, but some things require using it, so I keep it around and up dated. IE8 was acting squirrely so I tried reinstalling over the top. It actually uninstalled the old IE8 and reinstalled itself. It was quite a process but I didn't lose any Add-ons and now it works just fine. I thought it would be worth a try to see if a new install would help the freezing and the high CPU usage. The forum is always saying ,do a clean install and see if that helps. IE8 does a clean install for you. My PC knowledge is limited but I get lucky once in a while. 60 minutes had a great program about your country Sunday night and I thought of you.---garybear

Lets not confuse!

Lil' Miss,

The screenshots wozofoz provides are wonderful. They may appear completely different to you, even if you follow the exact path. The difference in appearance is only due to Woz's "background", so you must only look at the open windows on top of the background!

Cleaning up the java traces, via Woz's instructions, will help unclutter your system a bit. You will probably not "notice" an improvement in your system ((speed and utility, and all: (your machine is pretty new)) but the improvement is there anyway.

Sometimes we split hairs here.

Aye to Enoskype... Gary be here!! T.Y. to Woz as well!!

Peace, prosperity, and longevity to all!

Hi Miss!! IE8 is self sufficient.

IE8 will take care of itself through Windows update, (if you run later versions of Vista or Win7 (that is)). It isn't necessary to reinstall on the new platform... it will pretty much take care of itself.

I suspect you are sailing right along!! I hope so!!

I encourage you to investigate the threads on this forum, as they contain a wealth of information about many things! The lounge is a wonderful place to see... many possibilities!

Hi friend. What do you mean IE8 is self sufficient ? I know IE8 will up date through Windows update. I have XP3 and it up dates once a month after I give it permission to do so. Up dates did not keep IE8 from going squirrely on me. I have done over the top install a couple of times. IE8 will uninstall itself and reinstall itself. It automatically reboots and then installs a clean version. How do we explain the freeze ups and the high CPU usage?? I'm just asking. I know nothing about Vista, just know there aren't many who have good things to say about it. I don't see how a over the top install of IE8 could hurt any thing.:?::?: I'm using IE8 right now and I don't see high CPU or exsecive RAM
