How come when I run Maintain Windows the registry fix section always finds problems? I have even run consecutive scans and it still find errors. I mean no downloading, no deleting of programs and no internet and it will still find problems.

Hi Okie!!

If you are experiencing extensive repititions of registry keys to be repaired then there is another problem. The most I've ever seen were system related, and the count was three, low count being "normal". I'm running Vista Premium SP1, dual core pentium t2390, 3 gigs ram.

Hi Okie!

These entries come from within your system.

Everytime you reboot they come back.

They come from an enabled process within your system.

What are you running Okie... and can you post a hijack log right after start up for us to view?

-Mel

P.S. This was not always the case... but it is now. You have a process enabled upon startup that should be stopped. Please also describe your system completely.

The Alg entry of your second screenshot I'm not familiar with... as well as both of the 09 entries from you first. All the others I know and are ok!

Nice lean machine... if you know these that I mention. If you don't, then look at them.

Perhaps another will look and post.

Not too much information!!

I hope your shots were taken immediately after a fresh boot-up, or they will not accurately reflect the info needed.

I'm not advising you to fix these items... only to investigate them if you haven't already... as I don't know what they are!

-Mel

Service 023 I am not sure about either.

More the users of the PC, you will get more of those.

Windows grants or denies access and privileges to resources based on access control lists (ACLs), which use SIDs to uniquely identify users and their group memberships.

Security Identifiers:

...SID ..........................................Description

  • S-1-5-18 ....................Local System, a service account that is used by the operating system.

  • S-1-5-19 ....................NT Authority, Local Service

  • S-1-5-20 ....................NT Authority, Network Service

  • S-1-5-domain-500 ........A user account for the system administrator. By default, it is the only user account that is given full control over the system.

  • S-1-5-domain-501 .......Guest user account for people who do not have individual accounts. This user account does not require a password. By default, the Guest account is disabled

  • S-1-5-domain-512 .......Domain Admins - a global group whose members are authorized to administer the domain. By default, the Domain Admins group is a member of the Administrators group on all computers that have joined a domain, including the domain controllers. Domain Admins is the default owner of any object that is created by any member of the group.

  • S-1-5-domain-513 .......Domain Users.

  • S-1-5-domain-514 .......Domain Guests - A global group that, by default, has only one member, the domain's built-in Guest account.

Sometimes, you need to know what the security identifier (SID) is for a specific user on the system. To see what the SID is for a specific user, perform the steps below.

  1. Open Registry Editor and navigate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion \ProfileList
  2. Under the ProfileList key, you will see the SIDs. By selecting each one individually, you can look at the value entry and see what user name is associated with that particular SID.

Cheers.

Hi Okie,

Normally, if the system tray icon is not there (no is360 icon), then it is not running and no real time protection.

It is also a good practice to check it in Task Manager that it is not running if you have any doubts.

It was not running in your system at the time you have taken the screenshot of the Task Manager, so there was no real-time protection, as seen in your screenshot.

Cheers.
