Just because Google "thinks" two pieces of information are related doesn't necessarily mean that they are. In fact, Google isn't "thinking" at all, it's simply doing it's best to find all possible matches to your search terms. The fact that it returns more "hits" than another search engine just means it's making fewer assumptions about your search terms. Sometimes that's good. Sometimes that's bad. Sometimes it's just confusing.

 

That's right on the money Dave. I meant to say that, I did...hahaha.

Search engines aren't "smart", but they try very hard to be.

 

@Okie : I'm glad I was able to explain a few things without making everything more confusing. It's not always easy, but I try :wink:

Hi jjj. I did the same copy and paste method on this search engine that I was doing with Google. I don't see any of the cache or the porn that I saw on Google. Looks like a good search engine to me. Maybe one of our leaders will do more research on this and report back. Thanks JJJ.---GB PS I clicked every thing that this search engine found and there was no porn any where. If your still reading this thread SO-sad, I would like to hear your comments.---GB

 

yes its a very good alternative .safer,cleaner..but smaller .i use this as thy do not log you,or i .any one..not saying you cant find this,"PORN" but thy seem to be more protective..for the normal user.one would have to type in words relating to this type of sites.and then you get linked to if any were found..

Just for fun I have compiled an Excel sheet with a list of users where you can add yourself for comparison :-)

That said I will add that I place no value on how many percentages we score.

(quality is better that size ;-) )

Hi Okie

You probably have the default settings in your programs which usually blocks attached files and pictures.

Try allowing for attached files at least in this instance - you can go back to default setting afterwards.

I have them allowed all the time, but I am careful what I open, checking them first.

 

Save the file on your computer/ right click this file and choose Properties/ remove the blocking of the file.

Then open it!

Do you have Excel, Ms Works, or Open Office on your machine? If not Open Office is free and is available online. It will at least read the file.

 

Not sure if this is the problem or not... only suggesting the possibility.:-)

Handy Little App

Found an App called Extract Now about six months ago and have it running on all of my machines. Only purpose is to open zip, rar, etc. Thought it you might find it handy. Can be downloaded from homepage or Softpedia.

I tried here and got similar results : not identical because my Google preferences are set for my region, but I do have a few of the links that you have. There is an absolute surge from spam robots everywhere at the moment ; not just here. This robot obviously clicks "Quote" on a randomly chosen post (in this case : mine) just to show its spam filled signature. These are not people, but automated systems, capable of registering accounts on forums.

 

Be on the lookout, admins and mods, because they are here and everywhere... Just ban their IP and email as soon as you spot them ; don't bother with the nicknames, they change them all the time.

If you don't have an automated registrant clearing app, check out stopforumspam.com. You can proof the username, email addy and IP against known spammers.

 

edit: stopforumspam does list housefull as a spammer.
