Is it safe to close EXPLORER.EXE?

Recommended Posts

Hi sunny,

Ctrl+alt+delete=>"Windows Security" window on Blue screen=>click "Task Manager" button=>"Task Manager" window=>click "File"=>menu=>click "New Task (Run...)" on the menu=>"Create New Task" window=>type explorer.exe to Open: box=>click "OK" button.

Everything will be back if you have saved your work.:-D

If you had Internet Explorer open, it will stay open during the whole process.

Cheers.

Hi enoskype,

I never type explorer.exe in "create new task"

What I do is, I write "c:"

It will also open, but windows will popup with an error.

You can ignore that, it will say it didn't found blabla something.

Cheers.

Hi blacksea!

Just a note blacksea, the first thing I taught to MS engineers and the top IT personell in my company, was to read any blabla on Windows.

They were always thankful long after!!!

It is not related to your case, but I found this opportunity to mention that. :-D

Cheers.

Hi enoskype

Little story:

I once helped an acquaintance install win98se - a couple of days later he told me that he could only get the computer to show the opening screen.

I had a look at it and discovered that almost all folders had been deleted

- he must have been in Windows Explorer mode and thought that he didn't need all those folders that he didn't know what was - and when he got the warnings that a deletion of the folder may cause the computer not to work - he must have ignored this blabla and clicked ok to deletion anyway - very many times.

I formatted the computer and installed the program again, and told him not to delete it this time :-)

Cheers

Haha, well that means that theblabla can be important after all.

But I have the basic knowledge, so I don't think that I will end up like solbjergs acquaintance.

And this is the blabla I mentioned. It wouldn't do any harm right?

Well blacksea - Probably not

Did you search for it?

Did you run a chkdsk?

It told you that an idlist was missing - I would have tried to find out if it was important.

But often such "blabla" repairs itself, so probably no harm done.

Yes the mentioned story was really the most extreme case I have seen :-)

Cheers
