Hijack Log Help-Think I am being jacked :(Computer Crashing)

MadamX

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I am new. My computer keeps crashing. If the computer sits in idle it eventually shuts down and have to restart it in safe mode. Sometimes it takes several boots, for I hear the windows chime, but the screen is black. I have an "old as christmas" Samsung Monitor I recently hooked up for use of multiple monitors through a docking station. (Wondering if there could be a problem with this.) I noticed one time when it started to shut down the top of the screen looked like it was melting. (I had no control of computer at that point.) Sometimes when I am typing, I loose control of curser. In January I had to reinstall my operating system. Looks like this might be the case again? Would like to prevent this from happening over and over. Thanks in advance for any help.

FYI - I am in safe mode/networking right now. Terribly hard to type one sentence without the cursor going crazy. May just be the format?

Running Windows XP

Dell Latitude

Norton 360

IObit security 360

Malewarebytes - shows nothing

Below is my Highjack log.

One more thing

I also have double arrows by all my document icons???

I tried uploading a print screen to show as an example, but exceeds the limits.

The double arrow is white with blue square background and it covers a quarter of the bottom left of the document's icon.

Hi MadamX,

There was a compatibility issue between Norton 360 and IS360.

I would suggest to uninstall either of them untill the issue is solved.

Norton is a bit heavy AV, and there are very light (on the resources) free AV software such as Avira.

For the HijackThis report:

Check what is the following line.

O4 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run \: []

Update your Adobe 8 to Adobe version 9.3

For the double arrows, please attach a screenshot. You can cut the part of the image to make it smaller size and save it as a JPG file.

JPG attachment size per image is 1000 KB.

Cheers.

Question to the Reply

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Please forgive me as I am not a guru.

I am not sure what you mean by this:

Norton is a bit heavy AV, and there are very light (on the resources) free AV software such as Avira.

I am assuming to uninstall Norton 360. Not sure what heavy AV means and when I uninstall Norton I will then need to install an AV software such as Avira

Also, just to add to the whole situation. I was using Norton 360 identity safe a couple of weeks ago in ordering online and my credit card got swiped. They charged airline ticket to Paris, Frankfurt, somewhere else and then some type of gaming charge. The bank caught it and I had to get a new credit card.

My computer just crashed. The screen froze, could not do anything and then a purpleish melting look on the screen. I immediately turned off and unplugged.

I will attach the jpeg. Showing the double arrows on the icon. I think it uploaded?

Again, appreciate the help!

I have an "old as christmas" Samsung Monitor I recently hooked up for use of multiple monitors through a docking station. (Wondering if there could be a problem with this.)

i would check this out

you may need a new video card? or updated drivers.

just a idea. when i added new screen.i had similar problem.

(I noticed one time when it started to shut down the top of the screen looked like it was melting. (I had no control of computer at that point.) Sometimes when I am typing, I loose control of courser.)

it would not hurt to do this.first..? i am thinking its a hard ware problem (possible)

the way you describe whats happening.. loss of courser and the unstable erratic behavior of the system.and the loss of the screen top left or right side looking like a blob.of rainbow colors..?

but try updating the drivers first.then run a scan of the system.like a registry

cleaner.
