Why Norton ask users to uninstall Advanced Systemcare?

Recommended Posts

My 2 Cents

Well,as I previously shared in this thread-my opinion hasn't changed.I've convinced three more Techs to dump Norton after cleaning up it's mess from their PC's-only two more to go-It's only a matter of time til they come crying "I've got a problem......can you check it out"?

Hi clapka,

You need to run a real-time anti-virus program together with IS360, as IS360 is not an anti-virus program and this is specificly stated by IObit.

The database does not include all the old viruses.

All malware programs are the same.

Cheers.

Hello clapka,

Advanced system care is a system optimiztion utility, so it speed up your computer.

IS360 is a anti-malware and spyware removal program, which helps detect items missed by your main anti-virus program like, AVG, Avast, avira etc...

So you still need a anti-virus program installed to be your main line of defence, then IS360 is a back up to catch the little pests that get through that defense. Then use ASC to keep things running smoothly.

Norton vs ASC

I upgraded my norton product to Norton 360 about 4 weeks ago. At first Norton 360 would not install properly because of a compatability issue. In my case the issue was not with ASC as indicated. When you upgrade a norton product, the upgrade removes the existing norton product, but it does not remove all of it. Some parts and traces remain. This will often create issues when installing the new norton product. Instead of uninstalling advanced system care, as requested, I downloaded and ran the norton removal tool, which removes all traces of norton products on the computer. I then reinstalled Norton 360 without any problems or issues and both programs have happily co-existed for the past 25 days. I do not know if this will work for everyone, but it cleared my problems without removing ASC from my computer.

Thank you hadesjefe.

The Symantec product "Norton" is nefarious for placing tendrils and tenticles in your system and can be quite cumbersome to remove... so cumbersome in fact that they have designed their own removal tool. Please be advised that this tool does not remove all traces of Norton, even though it hastens installation/upgrade of Norton products. Should you try to remove Norton, please pay attention to the services left running in your system... thats "all I got to say about that"

Avast

I don't know if the Norton trouble has been fixed, but I quit using them years ago and started using the free Avast antivirus. I ended up with several viruses while using Norton, which is also a massive resource hog. I downloaded Avast and it immediately flagged 3 viruses that Norton had missed. I have been using it ever since, and have never had another problem. Oh yeah, ASC and Avast have no problems with requiring me to remove one or the other. So my suggestion is to dump Norton and start using Avast.

New Norton Subscriber

I recently received download of Norton 360 security suite and had no problems whatsoever. I had my Iobit Advanced Care up and running and the people from Norton never mentioned it. I am comcast customer and Norton is free to us. They did take out my malwarebytes program tho. That is the only program I had to remove. No problems so far.

Norton

I recently downloaded Norton virus protection as its provided free through my internet provider. I then purchased System Care in hopes that it can repair some of the damage my children have done to this dinosaur! I had no problems with either of the programs. From what I read in this thread it appears that as long as Norton is installed first then System Care the two will work fine together. I do plan to provide Norton/Symnatec with my two cents however. Cheers!

I Never Use Norton

My son is a software engineer and swears by Norton. He says that all other programmes are not recognized by Microsoft and are not safe. I am following all IOBIT products.

Result?

He keeps getting crashed system every three months or so. His system is sluggish and takes about 10 minutes to reboot. He keeps on taking a back up every week for the fear of crash.

He changed three laptops in last three years.

I am able to reboot my system in under couple of minutes and I am still using my 4 year old Lenovo laptop.

I am thankful to IOBIT for ASC and all the other products. It is an investment worth making to put your money in ASC and othe IOBIT products.

AND YES, I HAVE STOPPED USING NORTON FOR 5 YEARS NOW AND I DO NOT REGRET MY DECISION.

If you like your computer, don't use Norton

My first desktop computer years ago came preloaded with Norton SystemWorks from Symantec. After having some serious problems with it, I was informed by a gamer that Norton was very intrusive on the operating system causing a tremendous slowdown of a computer, so bad in fact, that he could not use it on his computer. As a gamer he requires maximum speed. He recommended AVG Free as the best, least intrusive anti-virus program available which I have used ever since.

My new laptop came preloaded with the Norton Internet Security suite, which I immediately uninstalled. I now use the AVG Pro v9.0.819 and the Advanced SystemCare Pro v3.5.1 editions together. I use the paid versions as they both have many good automatic advantages over the free editions. These two programs work extremely well together.

My buddy that is on the same wireless private network as me, got a new HP laptop that came with Norton Internet Security suite preloaded. I tried to warn him about it, but he ignored my warning saying, “That's a big name company and was recommended by HP." Less than a year later, his new computer got hit by a virus that destroyed the memory in it. There are 4 other computers on our network all using AVG, none of which were affected. Norton wanted to charge him $50/hour to diagnose and fix his machine after having paid them to keep it safe. We sent it back into HP for the fix since it was still under warranty. They said a virus had destroyed one of the memory chips, but fixed it at no charge since Norton had come preloaded. As soon as we got it back, I uninstalled Norton and installed AVG Free. This was about one and a half years ago with no problems since.

The only way I would ever use anything from Norton/Symantec again would be if they paid me several thousand dollars to use their junk programs. That way I could replace my laptop when their so-called security suite screwed it up and allowed something in, that it should have blocked.

P.S. AVG has become way more than just an anti-virus program :-D

Norton? I knew there was a reason I didn't like Norton...

Forget Norton. It's rated at about 35% efficiency. I much prefer BitDefender. Rated at 98%. Much better results and a much smaller footprint. I can't even tell when it's running.

For Norton to persist in this mythology that it can't coexist with ASC...it's typical of the dinosaur corporate mentality. Besides making no sense, it proves only that the board meetings at Norton need some Zen meditation or a good dose of California "medicine" to chill out, rather than waste their time devising agressive strategies against competitive companies. It's just so typical.

Norton (and McAfee, for that matter) have simply been aced by BitDefender. It's no contest. I mention it here because BD and ASC get along great. I've never had an issue using both at the same time.

So we'll just let Norton Antivirus go the way of the Norton motorcycle and Ed Norton of "The Honeymooners." Like Confucious said: "All things Norton are doomed to the scrapheap of history."

No campatibility issues with Norton 360 v4

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and when I updated to Norton 360 v4, I ignored the message to uninstall ASC. It didn't make any sense. I've had no compatibility issues whatsoever. NONE!

Norton is Picky

I bought Norton and right when I installed it there were maybe 20 programs that were "not compatible" with it. These programs had nothing to do with the internet which is the part that confused me. I uninstalled it and decided to go with COMODO which works perfectly. Norton has to many issues that they need to work out until that happens Norton can kiss anymore sales good by.

What does everyone think of Panda Cloud?

I have read about and am fascinated by Panda Cloud ! I have been using it on my computer along with ASC Pro and it is great ! It is based on new technology that performs a cloud or swarm affect for protecting computers. Whereas most anti-virus manufacturers rely on the old update protocol, which can take as long as two weeks to address new threats, Panda Cloud addresses those same issues in as little as two hours ! I AM a believer in this great software! And ASC is the best out there in my opinion for system maintenance and optimization! Any other users of Panda Cloud, along with ASC?

being a user of norton for over fifteen years and a fan of iobit I have got frustrated with these clash.

but the problem is in xp only vista and windows7 both programs get along fine.

in xp both ASC and 360 some how disable norton360 v4, version 3 of norton360 was fine with norton in xp. so in my opinion the fault lies in the new version of norton360v4 and only in the xp o/s.

i beta tested norton360 v4 and reported the error and was very disappointed the final build nor a later new build [current one] have done anything.

the fault occurs on start up and reboot something in iobit during this stage throws a spanner at norton which cant cope and fails to open.

now if the bad guys looked into this and discovered the flaw they could use that flaw in spyware to wreck havoc in norton protected pc's.

i wait in patience for a fix.
