Sluggishness

Recommended Posts

Thanks enoskype

It must be my own machine then - I'll see if I can find a reason for it then.

Cheers

solbjerg

solbjerg, for your information, I have not seen any sluggishness in the forum lately either with XP - IE8 and FF 3.63 - McAfee or W7 - IE8 and FF 3.63 - Avira.

Cheers.

Hi enoskype

Ok here it is:

« SpeedGuide.net TCP Analyzer Results »

Tested on: 06.05.2010 02:57

IP address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Client OS: Windows XP

TCP options string: 020405b40103030001010402

MSS: 1460

MTU: 1500

TCP Window: 65340 (NOT multiple of MSS)

RWIN Scaling: 0 bits

Unscaled RWIN : 65340

Recommended RWINs: 64240, 128480, 256960, 513920, 1027840

BDP limit (200ms): 2614kbps (327KBytes/s)

BDP limit (500ms): 1045kbps (131KBytes/s)

MTU Discovery: ON

TTL: 53

Timestamps: OFF

SACKs: ON

IP ToS: 00000000 (0)

I then used the optimizer in ASC and got this result after a restart:

MSS: 1460

MTU: 1500

TCP Window: 652608 (NOT multiple of MSS)

RWIN Scaling: 4 bits (2^4=16)

Unscaled RWIN : 40788

Recommended RWINs: 64240, 128480, 256960, 513920, 1027840

BDP limit (200ms): 26104kbps (3263KBytes/s)

MTU Discovery: ON

TTL: 53

Timestamps: OFF

SACKs: ON

IP ToS: 00000000 (0)

This helped making it much less sluggish! Thanks!

Perhaps it can be configured to do even better?

I then tried it with this setting:

Haven't noticed any improvement from the previous setting

Hi solbjerg,

If the clicking of the mouse is OK, then I don't think it is because of the mouse.

Why don't you show us your www.speedguide.net Broadband=>Broadband Tools=> SG TCP/IP Analyser result, it can give a clue about the internet behaviour.

Cheers.

Hi enoskype - Thanks!!!!

My bandwidth is 10 Mbits/s but I have never seen it higher than 6,8 - right now it is 6,6.

The 64240 feels as if it is the best in what little data I have to evaluate it from :-)

solbjerg - and thank you very much!!

Hi solbjerg,

Can you try it with:

All values the same but,

RWIN=128480 and/or 64240

TTL= 75 in both cases. (In Internet Booster.) (It should show 64 in the analysis.)

Which bandwidth is your connection?

Cheers.

Not at all solbjerg.

If your bandwidth is 10 Mbits/s but you have never seen it higher than 6,8 Mbits/s, taking into consideration the latencies, I would go for:

RWIN=256960

and

TTL=75 (In Internet Optimizer and 64 in the analysis.)

if I were you.

Cheers.

hi enoskype

Thanks a lot!

I will try that again :-)

Perhaps we/you should move this thread to ASC if you think others could benefit from it.

Cheers

solbjerg

p.s. RWIN → Recieve Window; TTL → Time To Live
