Any problems with SP 3 on Xp or SP1 on Vista

Recommended Posts

Just a few days ago installed Service Pack 3,being such a large instillation,340 mb, I first did full defrag and optimize, and found 6% fragmentation, took over 40 minuets on 23 gig of 40 gig HD.(On initial boot it took over 6 minuets to boot over twice as long as normal.)

I have found know problems so far, even using Vista transformation Pack 8.01

which I uninstalled prior to SP3 and reinstalled after.

So after install of SP3 or SP1 first thing to do is with such a large fragmentation is to defrag.

Time Limit

Hi fellows,

I believe we all know that XP Sp3 RC has a time limit of 180 days!!!:!:

You are also going to loose the "Address" in the Taskbar Toolbars. (Because of legal issues MS has taken it out in Sp3.)

It may become advisable to uninstall it to upgrade to RTM (Release To Manufacturers) when XP Sp3 RTM is released.

I would advice to read the discussions in :

prior to installation of Release Candidate XP Sp3 (windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu.exe) which is 344,137 KB (336.1 MB).

thanks for the tip on time limit for sp3 I was aware of having to unistall prior to next release but not of the 180 day limit, I expect another build to be out well before then. on reading the sp3 forum surprised with the problems raised everyone I know has given good feedback like myself. Did not know about the sp3 forum thanks.
