Could Smart Defrag be reverting files back?

Recommended Posts

Could Smart Defrag be reverting some files back to a previous state? We keep all the files for our website in a folder on our computer. Quite often these files revert back to a previous state sometime after we had made changes that we want to keep. This is especially annoying as we have 1000s of items that all have a "quantity available" and the files revert back to how it had been before the new count. We have it set up in groups of 4 **** ie item 1 #s 1-4, item 1 #s 5-8, item 1 #s 9-12, etc. Let's assume #1-#4 all start with 100 each available. If we change the quantity available on item 1 #s 1-4 (#1 & #3) one day so now we have 50 each of #s 1&3 but still have 100 each of #s 2&4. Next week we have to add or subtract the quantity from another so this time we go in to add 50 to #2 so now we should have 50 of #1, 150 of #2, 50 of #3 & still 100 of #4. When it has reverted back it shows the previous count at 100 of each. If we do not notice this when we add the 50 to #2 we end up now showing 100 each of #s 1,3,&4 & 150 of #2 (when there are really only 50 available of #s 1&3). I'm sure you see where this is a real problem as our #s each are actually random (1-1000 not in even 50s each time) and it is very difficult to remember that when you are trying to add/subtract from some items that every other items count could be messed up too. It is very easy to FTP the incorrect information over to the site when this happens and we can end up showing things that have been sold, as "still in stock".

If Smart Defrag did NOT DO THIS, we would be very happy if anyone has ANY IDEAS on how or WHY this is happening to us. We use an older version of WSFTP95, we keep the folder for our website in C:\PROGRAM FILES\WS_FTP with 100s of subfolders with all of our items on the computer.

Hello antiquehardware,

The Smart Defrag would not revert your changes back.

Its function is to improve the performance of your computer by streamlining your file system and placing the frequently used files and directories into the fastest area of the disk.

So it would not change your files:-P
