ASC 3.7 hang-ups

Hello David_Sch,

We advise you to temporarily disable or close any background program such as antivirus, anti-spyware, firewall and other system optimization utility when running ASC 3 Pro next time and to see if there is a problem.

Hope this can help.

System Optimization hangs

I am running ASC 3.7 Free and System Optimization just hangs for me.

Error text reads:

28/09/2010 23:03:54

Version=3.7.0.721(3.7.0.721)

OS Info=Windows XP

Exception Type=ERegistryException

Error Message=Failed to get data for 'SmoothScroll'

Any idea how I can get it to work?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi xtiffer

My guess is a Clean Install will fix that. Clean install concept descibed in Usage of IObit Products - links in my signature. Please follow the advice meticuously, thank you!

Cheers

Hi Chris,

Follow the advice of solbjerg, but if a Clean Install does not fix that, go to:

Desktop=>right click My Computer icon=>choose Properties from the menu=>System Properties window=>click Advanced tab=>Performance section=>click Settings button=>Visual Effects tab=>choose Let Windows choose what's best for my computer radio button=>click Apply button=>click OK button.

Restart your PC and try ASC System Optimization again and see if it hangs.

Cheers.

Hi xtifffer

Following enoskypes advice did you check that smooth scrooling was ticked?

In the clean install procedure - did you check if the program folder was deleted or empty?

In services.msc (written in Run) how are your settings in themes?

Have you tried sfc /scannow ?

Do you have ASC running automatically? Have you placed anything in the Ignore list?

Cheers

Meticulously followed Clean Install procedure then followed your visual effects advice but it still hangs.

Is there a registry fix I need to make?

Thanks for your help anyway.

Cheers,

Chris

Hi xtiffer,

Check the registry value at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]

Value Name: SmoothScroll

Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)

Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)

Cheers
