Registry Defrag - Never Does Anything

Recommended Posts

Every time I run Registry Defrag I always get a dialog box stating the following:

"Your registry has already been defragmented. It does not need to be defragmented at this time."

(See attached image.)

I get this message no matter if it has been 1 day or 1 week since I ran it last.

Is this indicative of a problem?

It's ironic that a message stating that there is no problem would cause me be concerned. But

after having used many other registry defrag programs I am used to finding a problem every time I run

them. (Many times even when run 2 times consecutively.)

Reporting many false positives makes the consumer feel like the program is doing something whereas not

enough makes the consumer question it's usefulness.

Hi tackyjan

Registry defrag and registry cleaning are two different things.

The registry defrag should be used sparingly, it is not often that the registry itself is in need of defragment. Has only happened by me once.

The registry cleaning on the other hand removes redundant commands often created by some other cleaning operation or by uninstalling programs.

Hi sunny

Snowstorm here :-) have a nice trip!

That winaso does it defrag your registry every time you use it?

How often do you use it?

Does it also demand that you close your AV protection or does it do that itself?

Sounds to me a bit risky to move items around all the time in the registry?

Cheers

I have never been able to get past this box either, i have posted this problem before but got no response from iobit.

i presume its not up and running yet.

i use the reg defrag in winaso

http://www.winaso.com/regdefrag/

would be nice to have the iobit one up and running. a good reg defrag helps boot times.

  • 4 weeks later...

just got back. Denmark is one very cold place, the temp was not worse than swedens -12c but the wind chill took our breath away makining it the most severe cold i have ever been in with a wind chill on the ship at -24c.

now as for winaso, I use the free version only opt for the defrag of the reg every 4 months or so, no need to close anything down as it does this for you, i always use the deep reg defrag option.
