Hi fodorb

Have you tried %userprofile%\cookies in Run and checked if you have them there?

Which anti-virus program do you use?

Cheers

Although it says "Problems fixed" after I run "Repair", the items reappear if I rescan the system right away. The entry for the items are:

Cookie:xxx xxxxx@content.yieldmanager.com/

Cookie:xxx xxxxx@content.yieldmanager.com/ak/

Cookie:xxx xxxxx@ad.yieldmanager.com/

Cookie:xxx xxxxx@ad.yieldmanager.com/

where xxx xxxxx is my name

That domain isn't the author of what is causing it. They just have an ad-campaign API commonly used by spyware/malware authors, and do little to prevent it.

I could give a list of these types of companies that passively support malware authors with ad-revenue APIs that are used almost entirely my malicious software for profit.

Do a anti-rootkit scan with a noob friendly tool like sanitycheck, and then use your favorite anti-virus. Something is emulating a web-browser to get money off ad-revenue on your machine.
