False Positive- WeatherBug application [SOLVED by db 2421]

I have had the WeatherBug [works like Weather.com] application on my computer for years. Starting yesterday IObit Security 360 says they are "misleading". It identifies every single file and folder that goes with WeatherBug, that is 43. :shock: I had to put it on the "Ignore list".

Something is clearly wrong. IObit Security 360 has never considered WeatherBug a threat to my computer before. Below is the report.

Please help.

Hi wagygirl

I read some reviews - Weatherbug is not considered spyware, but is however considered adware - at least the free application while it is funded by adds.

Have you recently updated to version 6.0? Since it is now considered "misleading" by IS360?

It does have some tracking cookies, but they are necessary to make the localization of local weather stations work and only track your computers location.

False Positive- WeatherBug application

 

No I have not updated my weatherbug. I have changed nothing. I do have the free version, always have.

Is there anyway to fix this so that it doesn't consider it "misleading" anymore? :?:

Imagine my shock when I saw 43+ items found during a routine scan. :shock:

Even with it listed in the "ignore list", It still gets marked each scan.

Yes, my IS 360 comes up with 216 files in the weatherbug folder - most .jpg and .gif, but also other files. This just happened with the 3/14 definition update. Never detected before and I have had Weatherbug for several years with no problems. I sent a couple file samples to the IOBIT Cloud, but, most likely a false positive as Weatherbug has been around for many, many years.

Hi, I am from WeatherBug. If anyone has contact info for someone at IObit or can put them in contact with me, I am happy to work with them to figure this out and resolve it. I did fill out the support form and awaiting a response.
