Shutting down unnecessary processes

Welcome

Welcome to the forum

These are good places to do a search of processes:

SysInfo

BleepingComputer

A word of caution:

If you do a Google (or whatever) search for processes you will find quite a few sites but many will tell you the process might be a virus or malware etc and advise you to do a 'free' scan of your computer using their tool.

Do not click on any of these 'free' scan buttons, the scan could end up costing you money to 'fix' problems you never had.

I am not saying that all the sites that offer this are bad but unless you know and trust the site doing a scan is not a good idea.

If you think you might be infected you should always ask about it in forum of your anti-virus or anti-malware, if you are infected the Malware Fighters can help you.

All the best, woz of oz

In the process manage, how do I know what processes I can safely shut down? Can someone help, please?

You would not know! and I be very careful what I would interfere with.

plus take the good advice above me.

ok If you want to monkey about fine .but be aware closing a vital command or service you may lose your system.

Learning is a good thing ,and experimenting is what its all about. so long as you have it backed up and use a top restoring program! A full Image program.

Do not rely on restore! but install a back up program.

after you done that get hold of some free scanning apps ,or whatchers,

then watch every command ,exe, whats loading, fire wall logs, settings extra settable, logs.

and have fun .
