ASC Question About License Use

I currently have an ASC Pro license for three computers. I have ASC Pro installed on two Desktop computers running W7 and one Netbook running W8.

Last night without much difficulty I managed to Install W8-DP on one of my two Desktops running W7.

However, unlike the Netbook which now has only W8-DP on it the Desktop was easily configured to run both W7 and W8. However, I am not running them in a virtual environment. To switch between them I have to do a "restart" which brings me to a menu listing both W8-DP and Windows 7. I just select the OS I wish to run and Windows takes me to it. While I am in either OS the applications installed in the other OS are disabled since that OS is not loaded.

To set this up required setting up a separate HDD partition for W8. What is cool about this is that all my data files, movies, pics etc are accessible in both OS because they are located in separate partitions from the OS. The Logical Drive letters except for "C" are different in each OS.

However all my applications and utility programs need to be installed in W8-DP partition for the programs to be viewable and usable in W8-DP.

My question is:

Can I install a second copy of ASC Pro on my Desktop that now has both the W7 and W8-DP OS, giving me two copies of ASC Pro on that Desktop one each in the W7 and W8-DP OS?

Or will IObit recognize it as a fourth computer; i.e., instance and not allow it without purchasing aother license for another computer?

Hi Buddahfan,

If IObit is checking the Hard disk and CPU as it was doing before for the validity of the licence-PC, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work in your case.

Tou can try it and see if it works.

It could ony warn you that the license is used for enough valid seats.

Cheers.

I just purchased an additional license for only 1 year:mrgreen: for both ASC and IMF, just $29.95

Installed them yesterday and everything is working as I expected.

I just decided it was simpler to buy the additional license for 1 year. W8 RTM should be out just before this license expires. At that time I will do a clean W8 install on the desktop. Then there will no longer be a need for a 4 sets of licenses for ASC and IMF.

I am running Smart RAM and the amount of RAM utilized by W8-DP x64 on the x64 desktop is around 30% less than it is in W7 SP1 x64. Now some of this is because not all of the W8 features are activated W8-DP. So it should really be interesting to see the RAM usage on W8 Beta which should be a full featured release.

With Firefox + 20 some add-ons, Open Office and Thunderbird open using W7 the RAM available would start out at about 2.5 GB and go down from there. At the moment in W8-DP with the three programs above installed and being used the amount of RAM available is around 3.25 GB. That is close to a 30% reduction in RAM usage for W8-DP. Can't wait to see what it looks like in W8 Beta.:-)

W8-DP appears to be noticeably quicker than W7:smile:
