Here's Info about 'Run-time errors':

http://www.windowsanswers.net/articles/fix-runtime?tid=runtimegoog

Here's Info about that error:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-security/internal-error-failed-to-expand-shell-folder/469b0600-9c3c-4e96-98e0-b4342c40df2c

If this was done recently, Try a System-Restore,

if that does not work then the Registry will probably need to be edited using Regedit program.

No joy Toppack! I tried tall the steps in the post you linked with the exception of windows restore and no change. As the computer is still running AWC 3, I think you would agree it's been a while scene the last update so I can't even begin to tell you when the problem started. My suspicion is it's a problem with the installation software. It doesn't like Vista.:-P Stuff is installed on that computer all the time with no problems.

I don't think there have been any other reports of ASC-5 not installing on Vista.

So, that Must not be the problem.

If you checked the registry entries and can not do a Restore,

Maybe you could try some other Cleaner software, such as CCleaner to locate the problem?

I have no other suggestions, Sorry.

Ether way I thank you for your input. It gave me some direction which puts me farther along than when I started.

Problem Salved!

Update:

I found the problem. I changed registry entry as fallows:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\AppData=%USERPROFILE%

Changed to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\AppData=%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming

I did not think to read the entire entry. I saw %USERPROFILE% in there and assumed it was correct because it did not mach the entries described by everyone else online.

Bad Tech, bad tech *Slap on wrist*

Results:

setup(std).exe installs and runs

setup(new).exe installs and runs

asc-setup.exe (Advanced SystemCare v5) installs and runs

Sugestions:

Check this registry path for the proper entry before extraction. If the entry is not correct, Offer the user to correct the entry and restart the computer.

Thank you very much for your help!!! :-D:-D:-D

Sorry for my temporary laps of intelligence.
