Hi woodchuck! Welcome to Iobit forum!

This spike does not necessarily mean anything is wrong. Such spikes tend to be the result of background processes of one or more of your programs running ocassionally. System optimizers and Anti-virus/malware programs typically cause these kind of spikes. If you are running softwares with automatic functions running, look there first to find which one is causing this spike. You can open your task manager and watch it, and when the spike is happening, you will see one of the processes % of CPU usage rise dramatically and then fall. This would be the one causing the spike. Sometimes you will have more than one process causing this depending on the softwares you are running.

Hope this helps!

Sincerely,

-Mel
