'TestDisk' File-Recovery Utility

Toppack

Recommended Posts

'TestDisk' utility is a free DOS level program that is great for recovering deleted or lost files.

(Even from drives that have been Formated)

It also gives useful Info about your HDs.

It also has a Photo recovery program with it, but I've not tried it yet.

This Amazing little program 'Saved the Bacon' Again!

We had an old drive that started sounding like a Coffee-grinder,:cry:

and Windows would not boot-up.

We were able to recover some new Web-page-design files, with 'Testdisk' on USB-flash drive,

before the hard-drive did a complete 'Self-distruct'.

Luckily we were able to find the two, that were not recoverable, on an external back-up-copy drive. :-D

Everyone is happy now, since I already had an extra drive to replace the scrapped one. ;-)

BTW- All my monthly work, of doing 'System-backups' and 'Backup-copies',

really Payed-off with this HD-failure. :-D

After installing W-7 on new drive, I was able to Restore everything, which was about 420.GB of programs and data. 8-)

That is our Last Old drive, so maybe this won't happen again, anytime soon.

I told a friend about this program and he was able to restore a damaged Boot-sector and was able to keep his computer going long enough to recover some files that were not backed-up yet.

He thinks the MBR was damaged by a virus, but not sure about that.

He was about to Re-format or Scrap the old H-drive without getting the needed files.

I'm continually Amazed what it can do, to restore damaged computers.
