Recommended Posts

Hi Mimon,

Please download the test tool from http://wikisend.com/download/584524/InfoCollect.exe

Then double click to run this tool and click Save report to Desktop. Send us this report so that we can get the detailed information to look into.

Cicely,

In case you should want the same information file from me, since I am having the same problem, I've attached a copy of my version of the IObit_Helper_Info.txt file (in Zip format since the *.TXT version was larger than the 50Kb this forum will allow), that you requested mimon send to you.

Thx!

Tim

P.S. Ref for IObit_Helper_Info.txt file version: Your file of 61.1 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 50.0 KB for this filetype.

Hi Tim,

To look into the issue, please follow the two solutions below respectively and let us know which one works.

Solution A:

1. Please temporarily turn off the real-time protection of Avast,

2. Then run IMF as you did before to see if the problem remains.

Solution B:

1. Turn on the real-time protection of Avast and turn off Process Guard in Protect section of IMF,

2. Then run IMF as you did before to see if the problem remains.

Thanks.

Hi Cicely,

Thx for your help with this!

Seems like you are on the right track. Both solutions work while the items I think you indicated are disabled.

Solution A:

I assume you meant all eight of the Avast, Real-Time Protection Shields like this:

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii313/Utopia2115/AvastRealTimeShieldsStopped.jpg

and this

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii313/Utopia2115/AvastProtStop.jpg

Results:

• If those eight, Avast, Real-Time Protection Shields are off, the IMF Smart Scan completes.

• If I turn all eight Avast Shields back on and do an IMF Smart Scan, the lockup occurs again. (However, it locks at Object 1146, file custsat.dll instead of at Object 824, file Silverlight.ConfigurationUI.dll.)

Solution B:

Results:

• If the eight, Avast, Real-Time Protection Shields are on, with the IMF Process Guard off, the IMF Smart Scan completes.

• If I merely turn the IMF Process Guard back on the IMF Smart Scan will again complete.

• If I reboot the computer with the IMF Process Guard turned back on (as immediately above), leave it on after the reboot, and then do an IMF Smart Scan, the lockup occurs again. (However, it locks at file wlnotify.dll instead of at Silverlight.ConfigurationUI.dll.

Thx!

Tim

P.S. Let me guess. I haven't tried it yet as I'm waiting for what you tell me, but I wonder what would happen if I tell Avast's Behavior Shield, under Expert Settings, in the Trusted Processes area that some IMF process or another is a trusted process. Just trying to guess where we might be headed.

  • 2 weeks later...

FYI this problem seems to be fixed in the latest build (v1.5.0.2). http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii313/Utopia2115/Smillies/notworthy.gif

I was able to do both smart and full IMF scans without any lockups AFTER a reboot following the update. http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii313/Utopia2115/Smillies/thumbup.gif

I emphasize "after a reboot" because I tried to do a smart scan before a reboot and it locked up the computer in the same manner it had before. There is no request for a reboot after the IMF update.

Thx VERY MUCH! http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii313/Utopia2115/Smillies/smitten.gif

Tim
