Perhaps the native defrag utility in Win8 is to blame. It's just a guess as I'm still on Win7 (the whole Metro thing has no appeal to me)

Anyway, try disabling Win8 defrag -Should be a System Service for it,or you could kill it where it lives- in Task Scheduler.

This is all that comes to mind,as I can't think of anything else that would change a properly modified registry entry.

throwing my hat into the ring

Hi All,

my thoughts on the matter. >> im only a W7 user <<.

The OP post 12 screenshot, showed 2 types of startup options.

Is SD using the correct 1. Some type of pre-fetch item

Does the boottime SD, if set to on/off over-ride the other 2 options,

for instance if boottime default value is 1% and and the disk is LE, (less than or equal to),

then options 2/3 are redundant and not then turned on.

Poxyvuse,

your specs state SATA hdd, if i remember correctly this type of drive, doesn't agree to well with any type off defrag prog, apparently shortens if lifetime

Sean

your X64 Pro, are you running SD under Admin authoritity, or other user.

Roy.
