Gamebooster 3.5 freezing Windows.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, didn't know were else to put this, but I made an account to put it here. I recently tested 3.5 Beta. When I installed it, (upgrading from 3.0) it worked great! The problems started the first time I shut down the computer. Windows boots up and runs, but after about 30 seconds of running Windows crashes and I'm left with a background image, but no explorer and CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't work.

I reset the computer, played around with it for a bit, did a repair utility, changed the things that start on start-up etc. My first indicator that GB was the culprit was when it was starting on start-up even though the preference inside GB was set not to.

I booted into safe mode and unchecked the start-up for it in MSConfig, but once again it started when I started the computer. Same problem, Windows boots up fine (and like I said I ran the repair utility multiple times. I even did the command prompt sfc /scannow to verify and repair all Windows protected file), but as soon as it finishes booting and I start trying to do something it crases.

I finally went into safe mode and uninstalled the two things I had installed since the last shut down when it was working fine. Those programs were GB 3.5, and Ad-aware version 10 (upgrade from v9). Bingo, started up fine ran great. I have since re-installed Ad-Aware and have had no problems. I don't know what is causing this misbehavior by GameBooster, but I'm pretty sure it's repeatable.
