Controlling unwanted a/v scanning

Using Windows Resource Monitor, it appears that ASCAvSvc is scanning my mp3 read/write activities for no apparent reason. I transfer thousands of files daily from one hd to another and then back (de-duping and tag repair) and I don't need an a/v suite to be slowing down my i/o.

 

Is it possible to restrict ASC6 from interacting with my mp3 files, and to avoid scanning drives other than my system drive? And/or how do I temporarily shut down ASC6 without uninstalling? Only by stoping the process?
