ASC destroyed ZoneAlarm firewall

ASC did an excellent job by optimizing my computer. But I expirenced very bad expirience after ASC tryed to begin automatic updating and firewall was set to disable acces to internet. ASC ocupied 50% of processor power trying to udate for several hours and I was unable to stop it. I have lost complete internet connection, also after restart of computer. I solved the problem with renoving ZoneAlarm completely and installing it again.

optimization can cause problems. it may improve performance but why would you try to update when the firewall is blocking it?

Agreed IFP-Marko,set your firewall to allow ASC access for updates-you should have those options either by the IP address,ignore or white list-not sure because I only use the Forcefeid utility on my daughter's pc-great for browser safety

I must say I was realy naive. I belived everything ACS proposed. So I checked yes for deleting all not used shortcuts (and by mistake I empted the Recycle Bin). Consequences: Help system of Adobe CS3 programs is not working anymore and I have to reinstal (several hours of installation). I am not sure what is next.

 

Yes I have the possibility to restore the system to the date of changes but I have bad expiriences with that in the past too - and the computer is realy much faster now.

 

About Firewall and ACS - there was an automatic updating trial and I was not at the computer to manualy enable it.

ah well the recycle bin is SUPPOSED to be emptied. its standard for all computer care apps. you can change the settings.
