Cookies and Temporary Internet files.

Recommended Posts

Smart defrag V Beta 3.

Looks like (some) cookies and temporary files are deleted when defraging, when the program starts or system is rebooted.

Would be nice to be able to prevent deleting via settings

by the user. Some of my cookies are essintal.

Thanks

Dummy,

As mentioned in below post :

http://www.iobit.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=183

"+Added cleaning temporary files before defragment"

Temporary files but not cookies are cleaned before defragmentation just after you click the Defrag button.

If you are also using Advanced WindowsCare Pro, and the checkbox "Automatically Sweep Privacy on Windows Logoff (or Shutdown)" is checked together with "Remove Browser (IE, Firefox, Opera) Cookies" checkbox, under Auto-Care Settings, Cookies will be deleted just before Reboot or Shutdown unless AWC is not running.

To keep a certain cookie, after the Scan, you have to go to "Show details" of "Privacy Sweep", and uncheck the checkbox of that specific cookie before clicking "Correct Problems", "OK", or "Repair".

It could have been better, if there were an Ignore List for cookies.

Ammm

I can asure you that (some) cookies are deleted.

I have the Smart Defrag Beta 3 which I guess is not the pro.

No settings are available in my version regarding temp files.

Just ran manual defrag and it starts with

"clean garbage files"

posted under the drive status bars.

If I can not control it or prevent it, than this program is useless for me.

OK Dummy,

Please install Advanced WindowsCare 2.41 Personal if you already have not done so.(You can unninstall it later if you wish).

Run Advanced WindowsCare.

Go to and click "Tools" at the top, and click "Add Ons".

In the "Advanced WidowsCare Add-Ons" window, click "Cookie Manager".

Count and note the cookies there.

Close the AWC program without "Scan" and witout "Repair".

Run the IObit SmartDefrag and defrag your drive.

Run AWC again and repeat the procedure above.

Tell us how many and which cookies are deleted by ISD.

You are right ! I was wrong.!!

No cookies are deleted by Iobit defrag.

However, all IE temp files are deleted.

I need to have an option to control it manualyas some vital

information is in there like readed threads in forums, blogs etc.

BTW

My Internet Temp files are NOT on the system partition so deleting

them does not help anyway when defragging the system partition.

And they were put there to minimize system fragmantation...........

Well,

I performed a small research and the entries that are cleared

and that are important for me are located in the index.dat file in folder hisory.ie5

Some refer to these entries as "url cache" and the entry is like

Administrator@javascript:GetMsgText(20740041,1

Clearing the history from IE tools properties does NOT clear these entries but IOBIT defrag does.

FYI
