Hi:

Here is a small personal test I have done on Iobit 360 security free versus Microsoft security essential beta on detecting malware samples.

Pro-Active Antimalware test of Microsoft security Essential vs Iobit 360 security free

Test System Info:

PC: AMD Athlon 64bit 3500+; 2.21GHZ

OP: Microsoft Windows Xp Pro Sp2 32bit updated with latest MS updates.

Browser used: Sandboxed Opera 10 and Sandboxed Internet explore 8

*Note Iobit 360 security Free has been set with highest setting

*Microsoft security essential Beta has been set with highest setting

Pro-Active test:

Test one: EICAR TEST SAMPLES ( eicar.com; eicar.com.txt; eicar_com.zip; eicarcom2.zip )

Web site: http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm

-Iobit 360 Security Free: Detected 0; Cleaned: 0; Score: 0%

-Microsoft security essential beta: Detected All; Cleaned: All; Score: 100%

Test two (Rogues):(Antivirusbest; Privacy guard pro; 212.117.160.19; EvidenceNuker; Windows Protection Suite )

Iobit 360 Security Free: Detected 0; Cleaned: 0; Score: 0%

Microsoft Security Essentialbeta: Detected 1; Cleaned: 1; Score: 10%

Test Samples three: Trojan Simulator Software

Web Site: http://www.misec.net/trojansimulator/

Iobit 360 Security Free: Detected 0; Cleaned: 0; Score: 0%

Microsoft Security Essential beta: Detected all; Cleaned: all; Score: 100%

Test sample four: Spycar Malware Tests 17 tests (6 Auto Start tests; 10 IE config Tests; 1 Network config change Test)

Web site: http://www.spycar.org/Spycar.html

Iobit 360 Security Free: Detected 0; Cleaned: 0; Score: 0%

Microsoft Security Essential beta: Detected all; Cleaned: all; Score: 100%

Conclusion: Based on all tests ran Iobit 360 security Free edition failed in all the pro-active tests with a overall score of 0 out of 40

While Microsoft Security Essential beta did better with a score of 31 out of 40. Keep in mind that these were limited tests.

*Note: Four tests were ran and each was set a maximum score of 10

P.S. Although this is a personal test and in no-way is meant to show which security software is better and the truth is I love both softwares. I would realy have liked it if I could have tested the Iobit 360 security pro against these samples.

I still vote Iobit 360 Security as one of the best security out there and a great addition to any antivirus and hips/firewall softwares.

Currently for my security I am using the following:

PRO-ACTIVE:

Microsoft Security essential beta

Iobit 360 Security Free

Sandboxie

Onlione Armor

ON-DEMAND:

Advance system care

Malwarebytes Antimalware

Superantispyware

Pc-tool Antispyware plus Antivirus

ran a on-demand scanning by chance

Hi:

I just ran an on-demand scanning with Iobit 360 security free and Microsoft security essential beta and behold Iobit 360 security found 2 malwares that MSE beta missed. I am very impressed. Great job. It seems the on-demand scanning on Iobit 360 security essential is great.

Thats it. Just wanted to add this positive outcome to my post.

My results.

Hi:

After conducting the on-demand test here are the results. First a bet on the history of the test.

I received a malware sample CD disk from a friend who works in IBM Canada and he wanted to know how it would go. These samples have nothing to do with me. After testing I have destroyed the disk as per my friends' request.

Total Malwares: 100

Result:

Microsoft Security Essential Beta: Detected: 100; Score 100%

Iobit 360 Security Free: Detected: 95; Score 95%

Missed Iobit malwares are as follows: (Based on description from MSE beta)

-Backdoor:Win32/Pasur!rts (Identity: Backdoor Patching) (Alert Level: High) (Infected source: ULTIMATEUTILITIE (D)\AUTOPLAY\DOC\ISOBUSTER 2.0\COPIE TO THE PROGRAM DIRECTORY FIRST\PATCH.EXE)

-TrojanDropper:Win32/Dunik!rts (Identity: Trojan Dropper) (Alert level: High) (Infection source: ULTIMATEUTILITIE (D)\AutoPlay\Doc\BS Player Pro v2.16.945 Multilingual\KeyGen.exe)

-Backdoor:Win32/Rbot (Identity: Backdoor) (Alert level: Severe) (Infection source: dvd-king06 sherk\WinZip Pro v10\WinZip 10.0 Trial Setup.exe)

Dear 333halfevil unfortunatly I could not send the missed samples to you or iobit first of all because I had agreed to my friend wished that I will not send or touch the malwares in anyway and only run a detection test and to destroy the disk afterward as a condition for me to test. I have included the description of the missed infection and I hope they can be of help to you.

Also in its place here is a link to a reputable site that updates MALICIOUS SITE ROGUES malwares and on my previous personal tests iobit failed to detect all of them proactively. Perhaps you can use these link to update the iobit detection.

THE LINK IS: http://freepcsecurity.co.uk/2009/01/16/list-of-known-malicious-sites/

In future if I find any more links or samples of my own will let iobit know and will send them.
