Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus Starter edition is very effective at finding all types of malware including rootkits and avoiding false positives however its real time is very limited and it is very slow at start-up,shut-down and full scan.Its intelli-scan lasts about ten minutes and its daily updates are fast.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Free

 

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Free is a simple to use anti-malware program.It has a quick scan and full scan scanning option,fast and easy updates and a FileASSASIN tool.However,it lacks real-time protection and any kind of automation in the free version.

Spyware Terminator

 

Spyware Terminator has a lot of nice features such as fast spyware scan,full spyware scan,full virus & spyware scan,cookie scan,favorite scan which scans for dangerous websites in your IE favorites and for the website availability,immunization with 5681 immunized items and Clam AntiVirus integrated.Unfortunately its real-time protection is extremely intrusive and can mess with other software updates and functions.I have Spyware Terminator's real-time protection shut down permanently and Spyware Terminator disabled from my computer start-up which fortunately can be done from Spyware Terminator's system tray icon.

Spybot Search & Destroy

 

Spybot Search & Destroy has a very strong immunizer with 137865 items immunized.It only has one scanning option which scans for specific malware at relatively fast speed.Its real-time protection called Resident Tea Timer is a bit intrusive and always asks you to allow or deny when you are installing new software or windows updates,stopping the program while it asks you,which can cause some problems and even cause some damage.There is another Resident shield called SD helper that is a browser helper object but this one doesn't seem to do anything.This Residents can be disabled by going to advanced mode,tools and settings.At settings you can also disable Spybot S&D from your computer start-up which is a good idea because Spybot S&D uses a lot of RAM and because of Tea Timer's intrusive nature.

I use Spybot S&D mainly as an immunizer as its scans usually don't find anything.

Spybot S&D has 594379 malicious objects in its database.
