ASC Pro Defrag question

Recommended Posts

Hi, i have just bought ASC Pro at the recommendation at a friend, but i have a question about it.

Is the Defragger prefetch aware? I am running Windows 7 and the Windows defragger defrags the files according to how superfetch/prefetch reads them from the hard drive, Will ASC defrag it like this also? or does it have its own system that will work against it? the reason i ask, is because if this is the case, i may as well turn the defragger off

any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi severedsolo,

The defragger in ASC Pro uses the same logic as the Smart Defrag program from IObit.

Smart Defrag have three different defragmentations. Defrag only, Fast optimize and Deep Optimize namely.

So, the defragmentation algorithms of Windows' own defragger and Smart Defrag are different.

Only by trying you can decide which one fits to your needs and makes your PC faster.

I suggest reading Think about Defragmentation!!! thread, as there are tons of interesting information there.

Cheers.

thank you very much for the reply,

I think i will be disabling defrag in ASC then, it seems to me that Windows knows the order that windows needs to run the files, and arranges them accordingly, and using the ASC defragger will be counter intuitive to that.

thank you again for your help
