ASC Free not compatible with Windows 7 Starter?

I'm a long-time and very satisfied user of ASC (Pro)—but I now have a strange problem.

 

Recently, I bought a Samsung N210 Plus netbook (Windows Starter Edition), and installed ASC (the free version) on it. It worked fine—but only once—after which it simply refused to work at all.

 

I reinstalled ASC Free and it worked fine. Once.

 

I reinstalled it again and it worked fine. Once.

 

I reinstsalled it again and...

 

well, you get the idea.

 

Perhaps this is peculiar to Windows 7 Starter edition. (I know, the Starter Edition is &*%$£$%! but I simply can't keep up with the demand for Windows upgrades.)

 

Anyone else having this experience?
