False Positive

Recommended Posts

Have been using a multimedia converting application for some time now without issues until installing the latest trial of System Mechanic Pro which deleted an important bin file saying it was Malicious.

The web link for more details had no details other than to say protection is current from this unspecified Malicious Software, attempting to re-install resulted in the real time protection preventing installation, I could choose to restore the file and remove it from future scans apparently but I believe this to be a false positive.

I would provide a log but I'm not sure where to retrieve one from System Mechanic Pro.

When I went to upload the file to virustotal is told me it had it on file and led me to:

Sorry, wrong forum!

Hi Zoa, welcome to IObit Forum! :-D

Unfortunately, you are in the wrong forum, as this forum is dealing with IObit softwares and System Mechanic Pro is not an IObit product.

IObit's security product is IObit Malware Fighter with Cloud technology and downloadable from IMF IObit Malware Fighter 1.3 is available! thread in this forum. There are Free and Pro versions, scannning and protection beeing nearly the same, after trying free you can decide to purchase pro.

Home page of IObit is: http://www.iobit.com/.

If you install IMF, then you can use Cloud to upload the file to see if the file is found malicious in the database.

FYI, you can re-analize your concerned file in VirusTotal, as 7/44 is a very high probability of a malware.

Cheers.
