corrupt dsound.dll repair

I recently tried to run studio 9 from Pinnacle. An error message indicating that the file dsound.dll was corrupt or missing came up. I went into Windows/System32/ and tried to delete dsound.dll without luck (I had copied a good dsound.dll from another computer and was intent on pasting in the folder). I also have no sound anymore.

 

Is there any way to repair this file so my program and sound will return.

Why can't you just re-run the pinnacle install file?

 

Don't know how you could accidentally delete a file with no recourse. You must be able to restore it. You should have a back up Image or something???

Hi paul

What does dxdiag (written in Run) say about your problem?

What version number does your dsound.dll have - is it the one from xpsp2?

What is the equivalent .dll from Pinnacle called?

Have you tried Device Manager? devmgmt.msc in Run

And asked it to check for a better driver?
