  3. Verdy p , Very informative posts thank you. I will copy them to Think about Defragmentation thread in Lounge section. (HERE) FYI, Perfect Disk8 does defragment USN Journal on NTFS partition with Offline defrag when Master File Table, Metadata, Hibernation file and Paging File checkboxes are checked in Drive Properties. I have done that many times. (XP Pro sp3) (Never allowed fragmentation of it to grow to 4000 fragments though.) Please find the related images attached. -54 fragments of USN Journal are highlighted by Ultimate Defrag. -An offline defrag is performed by Perfect Disk8 when there were 54 fragments (53 excess+1) of USN journal. -Contiguous USN Journal (~10.51 MB) is highligted by Ultimate Defrag just after Offline defrag by Perfect Disk. -Perfect Disk Report is shown with 0 (ZERO) fragmentation of the System files after offline defrag. I hope this helps. Cheers.

  6. Hi kab1976, Thank you for the feedback that dial-a-fix is worked for you. Anybody interested in that program, can find the link in this post. Everybody, Please be careful when using dial-a-fix as stated also by the users in the above mentioned forum that kab1976 gives a link, as "Dial-a-Fix by DjLizard is an advanced tool, and should only be used by experienced users.". Please take a note of the following quote from DjLizard. If you have any problems with it, please go to this forum. Cheers.

  10. ISD Beta 6.10 Defrag & Optimize Hi again everbody, Before the official version is released, I just wanted to show by graphical view that, how ISD Beta 6.10 does change the location of the files, of a disk which is defragmented by "PerfectDisk v8.0" using "SMARTPlacement" with "Aggressive free space consolidation" when you Defrag & Optimize just after. Images are self explanatory, and you can compare both of them by using the colours and definitions in the Legend section on the left side of the images. (More info about the legend of files in the images in post #1 of this thread) NOTE: The yellow, excluded files and folders at the bottom are: -C:\....\....\EncryptedDrive (1GB) -C:\RETURNIL (Virtual drive) (5GB) -C:\MSOCache -C:\WINDOWS\RegisteredPackages -C:\WINDOWS\$hf_mig$ -C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$ -C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB940157$ -C:\WINDOWS\$UninstallSCT$ , and The yellow, excluded files in the middle are: -C:\pagefile.sys (Page File) -C:\hiberfil.sys (Hibernation File) files. We certainly will need Exclude Files function together with Offline Defrag in future releases of ISD. Cheers. . .
  11. Hello Everybody, Here is the latest quotation from Tim Xue. Cheers.
  12. Luc J. Patenaude, Are you serious about what you write? This is the topic thread called: News. If you mean your last post in thread "AWC3 Beta 2.8.1 is available for downloading!!! " then, what you write is wrong, and please do not post incorrect information. The download mentioned there downloads AWC3 Beta 2.8.1 and AWC.exe version is 2.9.17.471. I checked it now at GMT 02:30 hours.
  13. For AWC3 Beta, have a look at the first post of thread: http://forums.iobit.com/showthread.php?t=1135 and make your comment afterwards. Thank you.
  14. Thanks solbjerg! I mean when the web site opens, the display changes in a fraction of a second, and I had the screenshot at that moment, before it was changed. Cheers.
  15. Hi wrightbyte, That's normal, same with my IE7 emulated IE8, it is not ready yet and not functional and thats why it is not public at the moment. Most probably that's why Tim did't give the live link I suppose. The image, you see above in post #1, appears fraction of a second in IE and it is the screenshot at that instant to show how it will look like. Cheers
  16. Hi everybody, Please take a notice of the quote from Tim Xue below. Before that , in the Quote:, stands for Spyware Defender. Sample image is attached. Have a great day!!!
  17. Optimize Defrag Algorithm Hello guys, First time in the history of IObit's defragmantation, company has announced the likely algorithm of the defrag engine (Smart Defrag). Please find below the quote about the "Smart Defrag" in AWC3 Beta 2.7.1 Cheers.

  20. Hi bfbcping, I agree with you with the default option of Pro version about Yahoo!. I have already requested that from Tim. I hope they change it in future versions. I do not insist you to use it, but AWC3 Beta 2.51 works like a clockwork orange if you carefully choose the details. Cheers.
  21. Vista defrag improvements over XP defrag. One of the imrovements of Vista defragmentation is, unlike Windows XP, Windows Vista does not require 15% free space (unless you use the –w parameter from the command line). If there is any free space at all, Defrag will make an attempt to defragment the volume. Although it needs confirmation, also, Vista SP1 defragmantation is improved compared to original Vista defragmentation for the matter of decreasing the amount of time it takes to defragment a volume and providing better defragmentation. Cheers. EDIT: It is confirmed, please have a look at post #46 of this tread.

  24. KB925877 Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal Services Client 6.0) MUI Language Pack FIX for KB925877 stubborn uninstall problem when installing XP sp3!!! Hello guys, I had the installation problem for SP3 in one of the laptops which have OSs nearly identical with XP Pro sp2s. The problem was because of the istalled update KB925877 ["Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal Services Client 6.0) MUI Language Pack for Windows XP"] in one of them. But I don't understand why this update was in only one of them, since I have updated all of the optional updates in both of them. The problem does not end there. 1) You can uninstall it if it is in your "Add or Remove Programs" and everything may go OK. 2) If it is not in your "Add or Remove Programs", you can uninstall it from: C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB925877$\ folder and run spuninst.exe to remove it. The remove may not work!!!. 3) You may have deleted Windows uninstalls of updates to have more space in the disk. (CCleaner=> Clean=>check checkbox of "Hotfix Uninstallers" of "Advanced" option=>Analyze=>Run Cleaner) (My case.) 4) You may still have it in: C:\WINDOWS\$hf_mig$\KB925877\ folder and run spuninst.exe to remove it. The remove may not work!!!. (Not worked in my case.) 5) Reinstalling and uninstalling KB925877 may not work. (Not worked in my case.) 6) Then comes the last resort. Go to the following item in Registry editor: My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Hotfix\KB925877 Export this reg. to where you like, to re-install it if something goes wrong. At this point, it is advisable to make an Automated System Recovery in XP Pro. Read this article (that samr has pointed out above) from Microsoft Help and support and the following articles ( 1 ,2 ,3 ) to do it. For XP Home, please read this article:http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=302700 DELETE KB925877 all together from registry. (Worked in my case.) 7) Install SP3 for XP either from Windows_Update or from Microsoft . 8 ) In my case, the following update did not show in Windows Update in any of the newly installed XP sp3 laptops after installing SP3. (One with problem , one without a problem of SP3 installation.) Install, Microsoft Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) Update for Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) "WindowsXP-KB942766-v6-x86-ENU.exe" from Microsoft . I hope this is helpful to those who have the same problem that I had. Cheers.
  25. BootVis BootVis is an application to check how long a Windows XP PC takes to boot, and then optimize the boot process, which is a Microsoft product but no longer available from Microsoft to download. Microsoft states: "BootVis.exe is a performance tracing and visualization tool that Microsoft designed to help PC system designers and software developers identify performance issues for boot/resume timing while developing new PC products or supporting software. The boot optimization routines invoked by Bootvis.exe are built into Windows XP. These routines run automatically at pre-determined times as part of the normal operation of the operating system." This reminds !!! me usage of Command window "defrag C: -b" and Tweak UI 2.10 . BootVis defines boot and resume times as the time from when the power switch is pressed to the time at which the user is able to start a program from a desktop shortcut. The application measures time taken during Windows XP's boot or resume period. BootVis can also defragment the files accessed during boot to improve startup performance by "Optimize System" option in the program. (However a similar optimization is already done in the background by Windows XP every three days.) Windows XP monitors the boot process over a period of boots - over a period of time. BootVis is used primarily to diagnose slow boots by identifying drivers that take a long time to load (can indicate a poorly written driver). One of the other things that it can be used for is to monitor a single boot process and to then take that information (exactly the same information that Windows XP gathers over a period of system boots) and perform the optimizations to driver loading. One of the other options that BootVis allows you to "perform now" is the partial defrag of the layout.ini files. You can download BootVis 1.3.37.0 (bootvis.msi) from here or here . It is interesting to read this comment. Please, also have a look at Clayton's_post . Cheers.
