Did ASC w/AV disable Windows Defender?

Recommended Posts

Just noticed that Win 7 (ultimate, 64-bit) is complaining that Windows Defender is not running. I'm assuming it was disabled when I installed ASC+anti-virus. Wanted to make sure, of course, just in case I'm running with no firewall at this point. Was surprised to NOT find this question posted already, which leads me to believe something else is responsible. Any info is much appreciated!

asc/av with windows defender

Hi lamatl,

I run windows defender, NOT MSE (microsoft security Essentials),

On a W7 home premium 32bit, and a 64bit home premium, with no problem.

My AV GUI shows my Firewall as on on both, even on the Beta versions WD was compatible.

Action centre also reports as on

Might be different on ultimate 64 bit.

ASC/AV does not have a firewall so it would NOT have turned yours OFF

Sorry cant be more help, but if your worried pop along to the Spyware/Malware section read me guide and go from there

Roy
