Registry Scan Report

Matt

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

As some of you know ive just upgraded to Pro but i havent installed ver.3.1.2. After checking and unchecking my preferences i ran a Maintain Windows scan. I repaired everything except the registry cleanup which suprised me with 581 problems. I saved a report and browsed through them...yep, i had know idea what anything was and what i could make out, i didnt understand why it needed to be repaired.

I got 2 options; rerun the scan, hit repair and cross my fingers every thing will be ok (restore if need be) or;

I could ask very nicely that someone take a look and advise me what should be in my ignore list and whats safe to delete\repair.

Yes i do use Comodo firewall.

Yes acronyms are perplexing but knowing what they mean only confuses me more :???:

For example;

what would happen if ASC deleted/repaired (not sure what its going to do)this;

From my seat, its related to my firewall, Application Rules sound like it shouldn't be messed with and then ASC says its Not Available.

Got me....so what going to happen if i repair it?

Hi Matt

In your example you haven't applied any Application rules, so therefore they are not available I guess.

If you at a later date apply some I will expect the program to enter the settings in the registry too.

All the screensavers probably refer to settings that were in force when you had them running.

The MRU are probably leftovers from the last time you cleaned out that option and doesn't now have a "parent".

Personally I have never experienced any defects by cleaning it all, but some here in the forum say they have experienced serious bad effects, so

I would not like to be held responsible for any crash. The responsibility is your own.

Cheers

For example;

what would happen if ASC deleted/repaired (not sure what its going to do)this;

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1229272821-1708537768-839522115-1004\Software\cfp\cfp\Application Rules\ N/A

From my seat, its related to my firewall, Application Rules sound like it shouldn't be messed with and then ASC says its Not Available.

Got me....so what going to happen if i repair it?

Hi Matt

If all were as careful, prudent and diligent as you, we would not have many questions to try to answer :-)

Good luck Matt

Cheers

solbjerg

Ok thanks solbjerg.

I might experiment with;

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Control Panel\Screen Saver.3DPipes\ N/A

repair it and see what happens, wont be to fussed if that gets deleted

Hi Matt, or should I call you, Mr. Sounders?!!! :roll: :lol:

I will take the responsibility, that all those with N/A in your list are not given a Registry Data value, you can Repair (delete).

Go to your Registry Editor and you will see fx. for \Mcromedia\Flash Player.

Name........................Type....................Data

_______..................______..................____________

(Default)..................REG_SZ.................(value not set)

After you repair, Flash Player will be deleted from under Macromedia.

It will be created in future, when your road crosses with Flash Player.

If not a value is given in the mean time, it will be shown again in Deep Scan.

MRU Cache? No problem, you can delete them.

Hi solbjerg, you are absolutely right my friend.;-)

Cheers.

Lol its actually Mr Saunders :-P

Ok i went through them 1 by 1 repairing and going to see if they worked again...only for the first 5 :-( got fed up and repaired them all.

No crashes so far but i did notice some very strange behaviour. I thought i'd open a few programs and see if it was consistent. Yep it seems to happen in all my programs just when you double click an icon to open it.

Theres no waiting time it just opens so quickly this is very strange.....:-P

Thanks ASC and of course you guys
