"Clones"

russia

Recommended Posts

While using ASC Pro several weeks ago, I used a tool for identifying "clones". I mistakenly took clones to approximate "duplicates". I was wrong. When I had run a remove clones feature, I discovered that what I had done was wipe out several programs' exe files and almost all connections from my desktop icons to the apps those icons opened.

For the most part I've been able to reconstruct the damage, but I would really like to know what ACS means by "clones", how to properly identify them, and which, if any, are safe to remove, and which are NOT safe to remove.

This is the only aspect of ASC Pro with which I've had a problem, and at that, have to confess to a good amount of 'operator error'! Otherwise, ASC Pro is indespensable!

Thanks.

Hi russia-I don't think any of us (or ASC's clone finder) can tell you which are safe to remove. This is an individual system/user thing.Type "clone files" into the forum search box-sorry you didn't before you removed all those files. You might want to read all of the "Usage of IObit Products" threads as well to avoid any further disasters.
