Windows Live Mail

Recommended Posts

Ever since the upgrade before last, not the most recent but the one before that, my Windows Live Mail database becomes "lost" every time I run ASC. I've been using ASC with no problems for quite a while and never had issues. It started doing that upgrade before last. I was running it like once a week or so. I stopped running it when I realized that was the only constant in losing my WLM database. I finally applied the latest ASC update today and decided to try running it hoping the WLM issue would be gone, but alas, my database is again "lost" and I basically end up with a default WLM folder list.

Any ideas what might be causing this? I don't want to stop using ASC, but I can't keep losing email every time I use it.

Thanks!

Shannon

Hi Shannon,

To find out the culprit, best thing to do is manual Scan of Maintain Windows and Diagnose System, and after finding problems of Registry Fix, and System Optimization, clicking on them to see if there are relevant entries there for Windows Live, so you can put those to Ignore List by right clicking on the relevant ones.

Other thing to do is, after scan look at the problems found of Privacy Sweep, and see if there are any entries, so that you can uncheck the relevant checkbox in the list on the left pane for not sweep those particular entries.

It is a good idea to have a look at the USAGE of IOBIT PRODUCTS thread in Lounge section to have a better understanding of Ignore List.

I hope this helps.

Cheers.

I am having the same problem FWIW. I tried the suggested fixes with no luck.

Hi bilworth

Perhaps a clean uninstall/install will help

caused by Disk Cleaner Utility

I have found the loss of Message Store is caused by using the Disk Cleaner Utility. Other functions seem to work OK.

Disk Cleaner deletes many required files from the Windows Live Mail folder. To get Mail back, you must re-name the Windows Live Mail folder then restart WLM and Import all the message from that renamed folder. Unfortunately, that puts them all under the Storage folder in WLM instead of where they were. You must then Move all the messages back to the correct folders. Once done, you can delete the renamed folder, as WLM has created a new WLM folder.

I have sent an e-mail to IOBit about this problem, but expect they will say we must check the files Disk Cleaner deletes in the Recycle Bin and Restore any WLM files from the Recycle Bin (hopefully you didn't tell Disk Cleaner to remove them from the system entirely).
